Maldives from Bangalore: which resorts you can reach the same day
There is one direct flight. IndiGo 6E1127 leaves Kempegowda at 12:50 and lands at Velana around 14:20, daily. Every island we sell is reachable on it.
What changes island to island is how much margin you have. Most resorts don't care what time you land. A handful give you forty minutes, and if the flight runs late you lose a night. That difference is the whole of this page, and the sorted list at the foot of it is drawn live from our catalogue for exactly this arrival time.

Two things people get wrong here. The Maldives runs 30 minutes behind India, so the flight looks longer on paper than it is. And the airport is called Velana, not Malé International. It was renamed in 2017 and some booking systems still show the old name.
What a 14:20 landing actually buys you
Every resort sets its own cut-off: the latest you can land at Velana and still have them get you to the island that day. It is the resort's ruling, not ours, and it varies island to island. A 14:20 landing clears all of them. What differs is by how much, and that puts every island into one of three groups.
The ones that don't care when you land
Every speedboat island, because a boat has no daylight restriction and would run for you at midnight. Most of North and South Malé Atoll sits here. So does every island reached by domestic flight and speedboat, because those aircraft fly after dark, and some hold a cut-off as late as ten at night. Add the seaplane islands whose own cut-off is 15:30 or later, where seventy minutes of margin absorbs an ordinary delay. This is the largest group by a wide margin.
The ones we can re-route
These sit at an earlier cut-off, so you land with about forty minutes in hand. What saves them is a second way in. Each is close enough to a domestic airport that if 6E1127 runs late, we put you on the fixed-wing hop and a speedboat instead. You lose the seaplane view and you keep the night. It is the group most people never find out about, and one of them holds a fallback window past seven in the evening.
The ones with no second route
Seaplane only, an early cut-off, and nothing else that afternoon. You will almost certainly make it. But if you don't, you overnight in Malé at your own cost while the resort night you already paid for goes unused. This is the group worth knowing about before you book rather than at the seaplane counter.

What a delay actually does
6E1127 keeps good time. We are not trying to frighten anyone. The point is that a delay does very different things depending on which island you have booked.
Most resorts are unaffected. A boat waits. The far-south islands reached by domestic flight hold cut-offs as late as 22:20, so a two-hour delay there is an inconvenience rather than a lost night.
A second group gets re-routed. We move you onto the domestic flight, tell the resort, and you arrive by boat instead of by air. Some of these hold a fallback window well into the evening and are close to delay-proof.
The third group is exposed. Forty minutes of margin, no alternative route, one daily flight. This is where a delay costs a night, and on a honeymoon that is a real risk rather than a theoretical one.
What we'd actually do. On a four-night trip from Bengaluru we steer most couples to a speedboat island. You give up the seaplane view. You get your first evening, your last morning, and no arithmetic. Pick one with a decent house reef and you have not given up much at all.

There is a way out of Bengaluru that lands you in Malé at 08:15, six hours before the direct flight.
SriLankan UL174 leaves Bengaluru at 03:25 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and reaches Colombo at 04:50. UL101 leaves Colombo at 07:20 and lands at Velana at 08:15. Sri Lanka keeps the same clock as India, and the Maldives is 30 minutes behind on the second leg.
An 08:15 arrival is comfortable for anything. Every island in the third group stops being tight, including the far-northern and far-southern seaplane resorts that the direct flight leaves no room for. You also land with the whole afternoon on the island rather than arriving at dusk.
What it costs you is a 03:25 departure and a connection. On a honeymoon that is a genuinely bad first morning. On a trip built around one particular island, it may be the only way to have that island at all. Ask us to check the connection for your dates before you book it, because minimum connecting times at Colombo vary by ticket.
The other Bengaluru option through Colombo, UL1174 at 10:00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, lands at 14:25. That is later than flying direct, so there is no reason to take it. Dubai works too, with several morning arrivals into Malé, but the total journey time usually stops making sense unless you were routing through the Gulf anyway.
Going home is the part people plan badly
6E1128 leaves Malé at 15:15. That sounds generous. It isn't.
Seaplanes run guest departures from the islands between 06:00 and 12:00. For a 15:15 international flight we book one of the later slots, which still means leaving your resort mid to late morning. Your last day is breakfast, a swim, and a bag by the door.
Speedboat islands give you two or three more hours, because the boat leaves when you need it to rather than when the schedule allows. On a four-night trip that is most of a morning, and it is one more reason we point short-stay couples at North and South Malé.
One practical note. If your transfer is at 11:00 you are not sitting around. If it is at 08:00, ask us about a late check-out or a day room when we quote, because some resorts charge for it and some don't.
What this actually costs
We don't sell flights, so treat the fare as your own line item. Book it before you fix the resort rather than after, because the arrival time decides the island.
The two Maldivian taxes, which are inside every quote we send

Both are already inside the price we quote. We say so because a lot of quotes in this market are not tax-inclusive, and the gap only shows up at check-out.
TCS, on the Indian side
Indian travellers pay Tax Collected at Source of 2% on an overseas tour package, under Section 206C(1G). It is flat, from the first rupee, with no threshold. We collect it when you pay, it is deposited against your PAN, and you set it against your income tax when you file. It is not a fee we keep.
This rate changed on 1 April 2026. It used to be 5% up to ₹10 lakh and 20% above, so anything you read from last year will overstate it.
Before you book piecemeal. The flat 2% applies because you are buying a bundled overseas tour package. Book flights on one site, the resort on another and transfers on a third, and the spend can fall under ordinary LRS remittance instead, where 20% applies above ₹10 lakh in a financial year. On a honeymoon at ₹4 lakh it makes no difference. On a family trip or a longer water villa stay it can be a large number. Worth a word with your own accountant, since it turns on your total LRS use for the year.
Still to pay on the island
Alcohol, à la carte restaurants outside your meal plan, spa, excursions, and anything sold as an experience. TGST applies to all of it. We give you a realistic figure for your resort when we quote, because it varies enormously between an all-inclusive island and a bed-and-breakfast one.
What a missed transfer costs
One night in a Malé airport hotel, plus the resort night you have already paid for and will not get back. That is the number that makes a well-timed arrival worth planning around.
Who this isn't for
If you are flying from Bengaluru with a two-year-old and set on a seaplane arrival, this is the wrong combination. The 14:20 landing plus a seaplane wait plus a small child is a long afternoon, and seaplane baggage allowances are tighter than your international ticket.
It is also the wrong page if you have five nights and your heart is set on an island in the third group. Those work best off a morning arrival, which from Bengaluru means the 3am routing or flying a day earlier.
And if your priority is the cheapest possible fare, book the connection and accept the Malé night as part of the price. That is a legitimate choice. We would just rather you made it deliberately. One hour 55 minutes on IndiGo 6E1127. It departs Bengaluru at 12:50 and lands at Velana at 14:15 local time. The Maldives runs 30 minutes behind India, so the clock difference makes the flight look longer than it is on a booking screen.
Can I reach my resort the same day on the Bangalore flight?
Yes. The 14:20 landing clears every resort's own cut-off. What varies is margin: most have plenty, some have around forty minutes plus a fallback route we can switch you to, and a handful have forty minutes and no fallback. The sorted list at the foot of this page shows which is which.
What time is the seaplane cut-off in the Maldives?
Seaplanes fly in daylight only. Most resorts want you landed at Velana by 15:00, some by 15:30. Trans Maldivian publish 15:30. We work to each resort's own cut-off rather than a single rule, because they genuinely differ island to island.
What taxes do I pay on a Maldives holiday from India?
Two in the Maldives: green tax at USD 12 per person per night with infants under two exempt, and TGST at 17% on the room, meal plan and on-island spending. Both are inside our quoted price. On the Indian side, TCS of 2% applies to an overseas tour package from the first rupee, collected against your PAN and claimable when you file.
Do Indians need a visa for the Maldives?
No advance visa. All nationalities get a free 30-day tourist visa stamped on arrival. You need a passport valid for your stay, a return ticket and your resort booking. You must also submit the IMUGA Traveller Declaration online within 96 hours of your flight.
Is it better to fly direct from Bangalore or connect through Colombo?
Direct is simpler and reaches every island we sell. SriLankan via Colombo, leaving Bengaluru at 03:25, lands at Velana at 08:15 and removes the margin worry entirely. If the resort you want has a tight seaplane connection, the early routing is worth the 3am start.
