Kagi Maldives Resort & Spa

Fifty Villas · Every One With A Pool · North Malé Atoll

Why We Send People Here

A small island with a pool in every villa, and a transfer that survives a late flight.

Fifty Pool Villas

Beach, ocean and lagoon. There is no category here without a private pool, so there is no upgrade to argue over.

Speedboats Until 02:00

Sixty minutes from Velana, running through the night. A late landing from India does not cost you a night in Malé.

360° House Reef

The reef wraps the island and starts at the beach. Turtles, rays and reef sharks without a boat ride.

Baani Spa, Over Water

Four overwater treatment rooms, steam rooms, a salon and a yoga studio with sound therapy. The gym is over water too.

Total relaxation

After going to the same island for many times decided to give Vilamendhoo a miss. So glad we did as this island is great the food the service is first class, the house reef is everywhere as good as Vila, the island is much smaller but you never get the feeling your on top of anyone infact you hardly see any other guests. Loved it so much we are returning in February

Thanks Kagi!

We really enjoyed it at Kagi! This was our first Maldives, and we chose the hotel quite carefully - to have a separate small and natural island, to have a few people, away from the male (so that you can't hear the planes), to have your own reef, to have beautiful and new villas on the water with a swimming pool. It's all Kagi! The island is very small and guests are very few - there is no crowd feeling, there is always “air” and space. The hotel has good stable free internet, even you can work remotely without problems. The hotel itself is very beautiful: lots of wood, glazing, greenery. It's all right) The service is also very good - the rooms were always cleaned, drinking water was brought. Before the trip, they saw unflattering reviews of the food here - I want to refute them, well fed. Yes, it is not a Turkish all inclusive where there are 5,000 types of dishes to choose from, but it is also not Turkey, where 2,000 people come for breakfast, but a chamber resort. The food was delicious, always available meat, fish, chicken. Chefs are interested in cooking local or Indian dishes at lunch and dinner. Desserts are incredible!!!! I also want to note the home reef - it's very close, there were a lot of fish, sharks, turtles, ray! Thanks Kagi, that was great!

Amazing food by the lovely head chef.

A Truly Memorable Stay at Kagi Maldives Our stay at Kagi Maldives was nothing short of exceptional. The resort is stunning, peaceful, and beautifully maintained, making it the perfect place to unwind. What made our experience truly unforgettable, however, was Chef Michael. As a vegetarian, I had specific dietary requirements, and he went above and beyond to accommodate them. Every meal was thoughtfully prepared with so much care, creativity, and warmth that we genuinely looked forward to each dining experience. He made us feel valued, not just as guests, but as people. His kindness and attention to detail transformed our stay into something very special. If it weren't for Chef Michael, our experience at Kagi wouldn't have been the same. We left with wonderful memories and are already looking forward to returning—not only for the breathtaking island but also for Chef Michael's delicious food and incredible hospitality. Highly recommended!

Fifty villas on a small island at the top of North Malé Atoll, and every single one has its own pool. At this size that is unusual, and it is the main reason we put couples here.

The second reason is the transfer. The last speedboat leaves the airport at 02:00. A late-night landing from Delhi or Mumbai does not cost you a night in Malé, which is exactly what happens at a seaplane-only resort.

Getting there

Route Time What to know
Speedboat from Velana International About 60 minutes Runs until 02:00 from the airport and until 19:00 from the resort. This is the route that saves a late arrival from an overnight in the capital, and it is why we often steer late-landing clients here.
Seaplane, then a short boat 15 minutes flying, then 3 to 5 minutes by boat Daylight only. Arrivals need an international flight landing between 06:00 and 15:00, departures need an outbound from 09:00. Kagi keeps its own lounge at the seaplane terminal, and the wait is usually two to three hours.

The island sits 54 km from the airport. Seaplane luggage is capped at 20 kg checked and 5 kg hand per person, and Trans Maldivian charges for excess, so pack to that if you are flying in.

The villas

Category How many Where it sits Who we put in it
Beach Pool Villa 10 On the sand, with a deck facing the beach Anyone who wants to walk straight onto sand, and families with younger children.
Ocean Pool Villa 22 Over water along the reef edge The default choice. Reef under the deck and the best value of the three.
Lagoon Pool Villa 18 Over the lagoon, calmer water Couples who want the overwater view without the surge you get on the reef side.

Every villa has a private pool, a king bed, an indoor bathroom with double sinks and an outdoor bathroom with a tub and rain shower, a Nespresso machine, minibar, IPTV and a Bluetooth soundbar. There is no category here without a pool, which is why the entry rate sits higher than resorts that sell you a pool as the upgrade.

Eating, honestly

Noo Faru handles breakfast, lunch and dinner. The two speciality restaurants alternate nights: Nonna, the Italian, opens Monday, Wednesday and Friday; Ke-Un, the Pacific Rim kitchen, opens Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Spa Corner does a light lunch and Ufaa Bar covers the day by the pool.

That matters on a short stay. On any given night you have Noo Faru plus one speciality, not a choice of four. Over three nights you will eat at one speciality twice or at both once, depending on which days you land. If you are picturing a resort where you pick a different restaurant each evening, this is not that resort. In-villa dining runs 24 hours and is charged separately whatever plan you are on.

The reef, the diving and the spa

The house reef wraps the whole island, and it starts at the beach rather than a boat ride away. Turtles, rays and reef sharks are routine. MSTS run the dive centre and will take beginners through to nitrox and fluorescence night dives.

The spa is the reason a lot of people choose Kagi over its neighbours. Baani Spa is built over the water with four treatment rooms, steam rooms, a salon and a yoga studio where the sound therapy sessions are the thing guests come back talking about. The gym is overwater too, with Precor kit. A resident doctor keeps clinic hours on the island, which is worth more than it sounds an hour from Malé.

What this actually costs

Rates move with season, villa and plan, so we quote rather than publish. What we can tell you now:

  • Green tax is US$12 per person per night, set by the government and payable by every guest aged two and over.
  • TGST at 17% and the resort service charge apply on top of the room rate. Whether they sit inside a quoted figure varies by contract, so we put it in writing on every costing.
  • Transfers are quoted separately and we price both routes, because the speedboat and the seaplane are not close in cost and the right answer depends on your flight time.
  • The Premium All-Inclusive package adds a sunset cruise, premium spirits and wines and dine-around across the restaurants. In-villa dining stays chargeable.

Who this isn't for

Children of all ages are welcome, but understand what that means here. There is no kids' club, no children's pool and no dedicated family villa. Families do stay and enjoy it when the children are old enough to be happy in a pool and on a reef. If you need somewhere to hand them over at ten in the morning, book elsewhere and we will tell you where.

It is also a small island, 42,000 square metres, walked end to end in about fifteen minutes. And if you want six restaurants, read the dining section again. Kagi is a good island for a couple who want a pool, a reef and a serious spa, and a poor one for anyone who gets restless.

Where in the Maldives?

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Kagi Maldives? +
Kagi sits at the top of North Malé Atoll, 54 km from Velana International Airport. It is a one-island-one-resort property of about 42,000 square metres, with 691 metres of beach and a house reef that wraps the whole island.
How do I get there, and what happens if I land late? +
Two routes. A 60-minute speedboat, which runs from the airport until 02:00 and is the reason we send late-arriving clients here. Or a 15-minute seaplane plus a 3 to 5 minute boat, which is daylight only and needs an international arrival between 06:00 and 15:00. Send us your flight and we will tell you which route works.
How many villas are there, and do they all have pools? +
Fifty villas in three categories: 10 Beach Pool Villas, 22 Ocean Pool Villas and 18 Lagoon Pool Villas. Every one has its own private pool, plus an outdoor bathroom with a tub and rain shower. There is no category without a pool.
What is included in the Premium All-Inclusive package? +
A sunset cruise, a selection of premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and dine-around across the restaurants. In-villa dining is available 24 hours but is charged separately whatever plan you are on.
How many restaurants are open on a given night? +
Noo Faru serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. The two speciality restaurants alternate: Nonna, the Italian, opens Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and Ke-Un, the Pacific Rim kitchen, opens Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. So any single evening gives you Noo Faru plus one speciality, not a choice of four.
What is the house reef like? +
It runs 360 degrees around the island and starts at the beach, so you snorkel from the sand rather than taking a boat out. Turtles, rays and reef sharks are common. MSTS run the dive centre and offer nitrox and fluorescence night diving alongside beginner courses.
Can I bring children? +
Yes, Kagi welcomes guests of all ages. Be clear about what that means though: there is no kids' club, no children's pool and no dedicated family villa. It works for families whose children are happy in a pool and on a reef, and less well if you want somewhere to hand them over in the morning.
How do I book or check rates? +
Message us on WhatsApp or send an enquiry through this page. We come back within 24 hours with a full costing, both transfer routes priced separately so you can see the difference.
