Ask for the sunrise side and this works. Guests there snorkel two or three times a day straight off the villa. The other side of the jetty has a current and little healthy coral, and the eastern reef dries out at low tide. The coral gardens, where the marine team is growing new coral, are the best snorkelling on the island and worth the short swim. There is a working turtle rehabilitation centre too, which children remember longer than the villa. Fine for a first-timer; a seasoned snorkeller would want more.

About the resort
Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa is 25 minutes from Velana by speedboat, and the boat runs at any hour. Land in Malé late at night and you still sleep on the island, with no seaplane cut-off to plan around. Every villa on this page has its own pool.
It is also the surf island. Tropicsurf teaches beginners in the sheltered lagoon and takes experienced surfers to six reef breaks a short boat ride out, and the resort hosts the annual Surfing Champions Trophy.
What you pay
Pick a villa and a stay of three, four, five or seven nights, and the price is the whole stay for two: the villa, breakfast and dinner, the return speedboat and every tax, green tax included. Nothing more is payable at the resort for those.
This is Four Seasons' offer for guests from India. The villa is twenty per cent off, half board is free for two and the speedboat is free both ways on the dates priced here.
The Deluxe Beach Pavilion with Pool is the value by a long way. The next villa up is more than half as much again over three nights.
Go over the water. Three nights in a Sunrise Water Villa with Pool comes in below the Sunset Beach Villa with Pool and only a little above the Sunrise Beach Villa with Pool.
The same holds for families. The Family Water Villa with Pool sits well below either family beach villa over three nights.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your villa and its pool, daily breakfast, dinner for two, the return speedboat at any hour, and every Maldivian tax including green tax. Family villas include breakfast for four.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, lunch, all drinks including soft drinks, dinner for a third or fourth guest, spa, diving and excursions, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Anyone after a remote island. Four Seasons Kuda Huraa has 96 villas, sits 25 minutes from the airport and feels busy. That is the trade for a boat that runs all night.
Serious snorkellers. The best snorkelling is the coral gardens the marine team is growing, a short swim out. Elsewhere the reef is patchy, with a current on one side of the jetty and shallows that dry out at low tide. Fine for a first-timer, thin for anyone who has snorkelled a lot.
Anyone who wants silence. The surf crowd and the kids' club are both part of the island.
Before you book
The festive period is not priced on this page. Christmas Eve dinner is US$483 per adult and New Year's Eve US$644, both compulsory. We can still book it.

Children under 12 stay free sharing with their parents, space permitting. The Kuda Mas kids' club and the turtle rehabilitation centre are what children remember.

Four Seasons Kuda Huraa felt like an effortless, traditional Maldivian village when we stayed in 2019. Grabbing morning coffee on the timber deck while watching baby reef sharks skim the shallow lagoon was pure bliss. The garden pathways smell of frangipani, and service is instinctively warm. The quirk: being only a short speedboat ride from Malé means you will spot passing boat traffic, so it lacks that deep, middle-of-nowhere isolation....

The Island Spa sits on its own small island, a two-minute boat ride from the main resort. It has seven treatment rooms in thatched overwater pavilions that open onto the ocean. Signature treatments include the Healing Waters Massage and the Healing Tent Experience, and a resident yogi leads daily group yoga on the ocean-facing platform. Spa treatments are not in the price on this page.
Is Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa good for families with children?
Yes. The Kuda Mas ('little fish') Kids' Club runs supervised activities including crafts, beach games, snorkelling, yoga and cooking classes. Children under 12 stay free sharing with their parents, space permitting. Family villas include breakfast for four, but dinner for a third or fourth guest is not in the price. The turtle rehabilitation centre is a favourite with children.

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa is the surf island. Tropicsurf runs classes and courses on site for guests aged six and above. The resort offers a comprehensive range of water activities including scuba diving, snorkelling, turtle and shark snorkel safaris, dolphin cruises, fishing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, parasailing, wakeboarding, water-skiing, jet-skiing and windsurfing. The Marine Discovery Centre introduces guests to reef conservation and the Maldivian Sea Turtle Conservation Programme.
What dining options are available at the resort?
There are five restaurants and bars: Baraabaru (Indian, over the water), Reef Club (Italian), Café Huraa (all-day international dining), Kandu Bar & Grill (seafood grill) and the Poolside Bar. In-villa dining runs 24 hours, and Baraabaru holds cooking classes. The price on this page includes breakfast and dinner for two each day. Ask us which restaurants the dinner covers. Lunch and all drinks are charged.
Can weddings and honeymoons be arranged at the resort?
Yes. Weddings, vow renewals and honeymoons can be arranged, including private sandbank ceremonies, sunset cruises and celebrations in your villa. Wedding planners are on hand and packages are made to order. None of these are in the price on this page, so tell us what you have in mind and we will price it with your stay.
What are the check-in and check-out times, and what payment methods are accepted?
Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at 12:00. The resort accepts American Express, Visa, MasterCard, JCB and China UnionPay. Premium Wi-Fi is free throughout the resort. Shisha is not allowed in the villas.
