Where in the Maldives
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Patina Maldives, Fari Islands? +
On its own island in the Fari Islands, a small archipelago in North Malé Atoll. It shares a lagoon with the Ritz-Carlton Maldives, and a complimentary dhoni runs between the two.
How do I get there? +
A 45-minute speedboat from Velana International Airport, enclosed and air-conditioned. Shared boats are timed to international arrivals, so allow 30 to 60 minutes at the airport. A private boat is available at extra cost, and a seaplane at 10 to 15 minutes is also possible. Transfers run day and night, though outside standard hours a surcharge can apply.
Is there an all-inclusive plan? +
No. Full board is the highest meal plan Patina sells, and meal plans cover food only, with drinks charged as you go. We usually quote half board. If you are comparing Patina against an all-inclusive resort, factor the drinks in before you decide.
Can I eat at the Ritz-Carlton next door? +
Yes, and the boat across is complimentary. You need a restaurant reservation, which you make after you arrive at Patina. Your Patina meal-plan credit does not apply at the Ritz-Carlton venues, so those meals are charged separately.
What is the house reef like? +
There is a house reef on the north-west side of the island, which the resort describes as lively. It is a 10 to 15 minute paddle rather than something you step into from your villa. Snorkel gear is included and the dive centre is Dive Butler International.
Is it suitable for families? +
Unusually so for this level. Footprints, the kids’ club, is complimentary for four to eleven year olds, and under-threes may use it with a parent. Under-twelves eat free from the kids’ menu in Patina’s own restaurants, children of eleven and under stay free where the villa allows, and two children’s return boat transfers are included. There is a clinic on the island with a doctor and a nurse.
Where can I eat? +
Portico is the all-day restaurant. Wok Society, Farine, Brasa, KANDU, Helios and the Fari Beach Club cover the rest, with Veli Bar and GoGo Burger at lunch and free gelato at Tuk Tuk each afternoon. Book restaurants about a week before you arrive.
What is included in the rate? +
Bicycles, snorkel gear, paddleboards and kayaks, the beach club and kids’ club, the gym and pools around the clock, filtered water and seasonal fruit daily, the dhoni between the Fari islands, wi-fi and your Patina Essentialist. A welcome bottle of champagne or a soft alternative on arrival.
