Exceptional
The reef here is mostly brain coral, which handles heat far better than branching coral, so it came through the bleaching in better condition than most of the atoll. You can swim the full circumference with direct access from every residence, and the edge is a few metres off some decks. Guests point to the low-numbered villas and the water by the main building as the richest stretches. Big schools of fusiliers, blacktips, turtles. Not the most dramatic reef in the country, but among the healthiest.

About the resort
Kudadoo Maldives Private Island has fifteen residences and nothing else to sleep in. Each sits over the water with its own pool, and the reef runs right round the island, so you swim off your steps onto coral that came through the bleaching in better shape than most of Lhaviyani Atoll.
The other unusual thing is the plan. Almost everything is in the price, including the spa, diving, jet skis and excursions, which most all-inclusive resorts charge for. It is a very private, very quiet holiday.
What you pay
Pick your dates and a residence and the price is the whole stay: the residence, the Anything Anytime Anywhere plan, the return shared seaplane for everyone in it, and every tax, green tax included. The One Bedroom is for two adults, the Two Bedroom for four. Three nights is the shortest stay.
The earliest dates on this page carry the lowest price, with the green season close behind them.
The peak of the dry season is the dearest window, about a third above the cheapest dates for the same three nights.
Four adults should look at the Two Bedroom. On every date and length it comes to at least fourteen per cent less than two One Bedrooms, and you share a living space and a pool. There are only two, so ask early.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your residence, food wherever and whenever you want it, in the residence too, plus Hurawalhi's Kashibo and Canneli, a menu of over 100 wines and nine champagnes, unlimited spa treatments, diving, jet skis, flyboarding, Seabob, personalised excursions, a photography package, the return shared seaplane, and every Maldivian tax including green tax.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant, wine from the Owners' collection, caviar, diving courses, big game fishing, private boat and yacht charters, weddings, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Anyone who wants sand at the door. There are no beach villas, and the island is small. If you want several restaurants and a long beach walk, choose a bigger island.
Families with young children and no help. There is no childcare, so you bring your own nanny, and from the second birthday a child pays the adult rate. Under-15s cannot go across to Hurawalhi or the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant. Tell us the ages of anyone travelling and we will have it confirmed before you book.
Anyone landing at Velana after 15:00. The seaplane takes 40 minutes and flies in daylight only, so a later arrival means a night in Malé first. A domestic flight and a short boat runs later and is a little cheaper. Ask us, as it is not priced on this page.
Before you book
The New Year period is not priced on this page. Five nights is the minimum then, the gala dinners are compulsory at US$600 per person on Christmas Eve and US$900 on New Year's Eve, and nobody checks out on 31 December. We can still book it.

Underwater restaurant
5.8 Undersea Restaurant
Kudadoo Maldives Private Island has no underwater restaurant of its own, but its sister island has one of the best known in the Maldives. 5.8 Undersea Restaurant sits 5.8 metres under the lagoon at Hurawalhi Maldives, a few minutes away by boat, in one long curved room of glass with the reef all round it.
Lunch is five courses at 12:00 or 14:00, and dinner is seven courses at 18:00, as the light fades through the water. It is charged separately from your stay, though some Kudadoo Maldives Private Island packages include a dinner there, so ask us. We book the table and the boat across with your stay.

Where is Kudadoo Maldives Private Island?
Kudadoo Maldives Private Island is in Lhaviyani Atoll, about 40 minutes from Velana by seaplane. It has fifteen overwater residences and nothing else to sleep in. Hurawalhi Island Resort, the sister resort, is nearby, and its Kashibo and Canneli restaurants are part of the plan here.

What residences are available?
Fifteen, all over the water with their own pool. Thirteen are One Bedroom residences of 300 m² for two adults. Two are Two Bedroom residences of 380 m², for four adults or two adults and two children. With only two of the larger ones on the island, ask early if you are four.
What is the house reef like?
The reef runs right round the island and you reach it from your own steps. At some residences the edge is a few metres off the deck. It is mostly brain coral, which came through the bleaching in better shape than most of Lhaviyani Atoll. Expect big schools of fusiliers, blacktips and turtles.
Can I stay over Christmas and New Year?
Yes. Christmas Eve carries a compulsory gala dinner at US$600 per person, paid on top of the prices here. The New Year period is not priced on this page: five nights is the minimum, the New Year's Eve gala is compulsory at US$900 per person, and nobody checks out on 31 December.
