Weak, and worth knowing before you book. The island opened at the end of 2023 in a developed lagoon fifteen minutes from Malé, and guests report very little to snorkel around it: a small coral patch, shallow clear water that suits a nervous beginner, and not much else. Sharks, rays and turtles do get seen, but on the resort's boat trips rather than off your own steps. Snorkelling gear is free at the watersports centre. Come here for the design, the food and the short transfer, and let us book your reef holiday somewhere else.

About the resort
At SO/ Maldives the beach villas are nearly twice the size of the overwater ones, 228 m² against 120 m², and they are also the cheaper of the two.
The island sits in the Emboodhoo Lagoon in South Malé Atoll, fifteen minutes from Velana by a speedboat that runs day and night, so a late flight still reaches the island the same night. It is Accor's design brand, opened at the end of 2023, with eighty villas, three restaurants and a kids club.
What you pay
Pick a villa, your dates and the number of nights. The price is the whole stay for two, or for the guests named on the family and multi-bedroom villas: the villa, half board, the return speedboat and every Maldivian tax, green tax included.
The beach is the better buy here. Four nights between 1 October and 25 December in a Water Pool Villa come to ₹ 1,44,100 more than in a Beach Pool Villa.
Next year is cheaper than this autumn. From 11 January 2027 SO/ Maldives takes twenty per cent off the villa. Book by 31 December 2026 for stays from 11 January to 5 May. Book by 30 April 2027 for 6 May to 30 September, when four nights in a Beach Pool Villa are ₹ 5,14,100, the lowest four-night price here.
Half board is dine-around. Breakfast, and a three-course à la carte dinner at any of the three restaurants. Full board adds about ₹ 57,700 to four nights for two adults.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your villa, breakfast and a three-course dinner daily, the return resort speedboat, snorkelling gear from the watersports centre, and every Maldivian tax including green tax. The Family Beach Pool Villa with Capsule is priced for two adults and two children.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, lunch, alcohol and the beverage packages, the resort's boat trips, the private speedboat, spa treatments, extra guests, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Anyone coming to snorkel. The lagoon around the island is developed and there is very little reef to swim out to, just a small coral patch in shallow, clear water that suits a nervous beginner. Sharks, rays and turtles are seen on the resort's boat trips, not off your steps. If the reef matters, we will suggest another island.
Anyone who wants all inclusive before January. From 1 October 2026 to 10 January 2027 there is no all-inclusive plan, only beverage packages added to a meal plan. All inclusive returns from 11 January 2027.
Anyone set on Christmas or New Year. 26 December to 10 January is not priced on this page. The New Year's Eve gala dinner is compulsory for every guest, and nobody checks out on 30 or 31 December. We can still book it.
Before you book
Four nights is the shortest stay from 1 October. Check-in is at 15:00 and check-out at 12:00, and the resort may hold US$200 a villa a night on your card at arrival.
Cancellation is all or nothing. The whole stay is charged if you cancel inside 21 days of arrival for stays from 11 January to 5 May, and inside 14 days for the other dates on this page. Shortening a confirmed stay counts as a cancellation.
Honeymoon and anniversary couples get champagne and a resort photoshoot, and a couples' spa treatment on seven nights. Bring a marriage certificate dated within the past twelve months.

Where is SO/ Maldives, and how do you get there?
On its own island in the Emboodhoo Lagoon, South Malé Atoll. The transfer from Velana International Airport is the resort's speedboat of about fifteen minutes, and it runs twenty-four hours against your flight. There is no seaplane and no daylight cut-off, so a midnight arrival still reaches SO/ Maldives that night.
What is included in the price on this page?
The villa for the nights you pick, half board, the return resort speedboat and every Maldivian tax, green tax included. Half board here is dine-around: breakfast, and a three-course à la carte dinner at any of the three restaurants. Indian TCS is added separately, and the current rate is on our Taxes and TCS page.
Is the snorkelling any good?
No, and we would rather say so. The island opened at the end of 2023 in a developed lagoon and guests report very little reef to swim out to. Sharks, rays and turtles are seen on the boat trips the resort runs rather than off the beach. We rate the house reef 2 out of 5. Ask us for a reef island instead if that is the point of the holiday.
Is SO/ Maldives good for families?
Yes. There is a kids club, and the Family Beach Pool Villa with Capsule, 238 m² on the beach with a separate sleeping capsule, is priced for two adults and two children. In the other villas children stay as extra guests and are charged, though a child under two stays free and a child of two or three pays only green tax. Tell us the ages and we will price the villa that fits.
How many villas are there, and what are the categories?
Eighty: twenty-seven on the beach and fifty-three over the water. Beach Pool, Lagoon Beach Pool and Family Beach Pool with Capsule on the sand at 228 and 238 m²; Water Pool and Ocean Water Pool over the lagoon at 120 m²; and three multi-bedroom residences of 322, 240 and 410 m².
What meal plans are available?
This page prices half board dine-around. Bed and breakfast and full board are available too, and a Standard or Premium beverage package can be added to any meal plan. All-inclusive is not available on every date on this page. Tell us your dates and we will price the options side by side.
Is there a minimum stay?
Four nights is the shortest stay at SO/ Maldives on most dates and three on the offer dates, so tell us your dates and we will say which applies. This page prices three, four, five and seven nights, and we price six or longer on request. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is at 12:00.
Can we book Christmas or New Year?
Not at these prices. The festive fortnight is not priced on this page: the New Year's Eve gala dinner is compulsory for every guest on the island whatever meal plan they booked, and the resort accepts no check-out on 30 or 31 December. We can price the festive fortnight on request.
