Thin
There is no usable reef off this island and guests are blunt about it. The lagoon is large, calm and easy to get into, and there is very little in it beyond small fish and the occasional stingray or small shark under the villa lights at night. What makes this work is a complimentary boat out to the house reef every morning, which is well run and delivers eagle rays, turtles, sharks and Napoleon wrasse. The island sits exposed on the eastern side of the atoll, so the sea is often rough and gear is withheld when it is. Snorkel by boat here.

Land at Velana after 15:45 and the last seaplane of the day will have gone, which means a night in Malé before you reach the island.
The return seaplane, about forty-five minutes each way with Manta Air, is in the price. It flies in daylight only and the times are set the evening before, so send us your flight numbers when you book. Each guest may check in 25 kg; extra weight is paid to the airline.

About the resort
RAAYA by Atmosphere is a large, green family island in Raa Atoll, forty-five minutes from Velana International Airport by seaplane, and the seaplane is in the price. It is built around children and active holidays, with a sports hub, a kids' club and a generous all-inclusive plan.
There are villas on the beach, with and without a plunge pool, water villas over the lagoon, and two-bedroom family villas on the beach. Every stay is on the Raaya Plan, which covers three speciality meals, a spa treatment and a daily snorkelling boat.
What you pay
The price on this page is for two adults, for four nights, on the Raaya Plan, with the return seaplane and every Maldivian tax inside it. Four nights is the shortest stay priced here. Three nights can be booked, but it carries a supplement, so each night comes to more.
The beach and water villas sit close together in price, and a plunge pool adds only a little more. The two-bedroom family villas are priced for the villa and sleep four. The residence is sold on request. Christmas and New Year carry no compulsory gala dinner.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your villa for four nights; breakfast, lunch and dinner at RAAYA Life; premium spirits, wines, beers and cocktails at every bar and restaurant; a minibar restocked daily with wine, beer, soft drinks and snacks; one meal each at Ampersand, The Village and Mizaj.
Also in the price: one 45-minute spa treatment for each adult; a daily snorkelling boat to the reef; a fishing trip and a craft workshop each; windsurfing, canoes and paddleboards; the kids' club, gym, padel, futsal and mini golf; the return seaplane; and every Maldivian tax.
Not in the price: in-villa dining, the BMX track, the salon, diving and motorised water sports, other excursions, your international flights, travel insurance, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Snorkellers who want a reef off the beach: there is little to see in the lagoon, and the good reef is a boat ride away. The island faces open sea on one side, so the water can be rough. Late arrivals should know the seaplane flies in daylight only, and some guests find the buffet repeats over a long stay.
Before you book
Land at Velana by 15:45 to fly out the same day. Later flights mean a night in Malé, and departures before 08:45 cannot be reached from the island. Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at noon.
Water Villas with Pool take two adults only, and children in any water villa need a signed waiver. Honeymooners married within the past year get a decorated bed, a cake and a turndown treat, with a beach dinner added on six nights or more. You can split four nights between two villa types, two nights each.

Is RAAYA by Atmosphere good for families?
Yes. There is a kids' club, a sports hub with padel, futsal and mini golf, and two-bedroom family villas that sleep four adults and two children. Children can stay in the Water Villa with a signed waiver, but the Water Villa with Pool is for two adults only, so a family is better off on the beach.
Why is the stay four nights?
The prices on this page are built on four nights, which is also the resort's minimum for its standard rates. Three nights can be booked, but it carries a supplement, so each night comes to more. Tell us your dates and we will price three nights for you.
Can we book Christmas or New Year?
