Three nights for two in a Beach Villa, Premium All-Inclusive, with the domestic flight, the speedboat and green tax, from ₹4,62,700. Book ninety days out and the same villa over four nights drops from ₹5,68,900 to ₹4,65,200.

Pullman Maamutaa is 370 km south of Malé in Gaafu Alifu Atoll: a 55-minute domestic flight to Kooddoo, then fifteen minutes by speedboat. That distance is the point. This far south the reefs carry a fraction of the boat traffic they do around Malé, and the all-inclusive plan is the most generous we sell.

What this actually costs

Four nights for two on Premium All-Inclusive, or for four in the two-bedroom and Aqua categories, with the return domestic flight, speedboat and green tax. Room rates already include government taxes and service charge. Pick any villa and length in the dropdown above for the exact figure.

Three things worth knowing before you choose

The ladder inverts between seasons. To 30 September the Beach Pool Villa is ₹22,800 cheaper than the Ocean Pool Villa over three nights. From 1 October it is ₹15,400 dearer. In the green season take the beach pool; from October take the water.

The Two Bedroom Ocean Pool Villa and the Aqua Villa cost the same in both seasons, ₹15,83,900 and ₹21,60,100 over four nights whichever month you pick. Every other category climbs from October, so on those two there is no reason at all to squeeze into the green season.

From October the Family Beach Villa and the Ocean Pool Suite are priced identically, at ₹9,67,300 over four nights. One is 270 m² on the sand that sleeps two adults and two children; the other is 185 m² over the water for two. Same money, completely different holiday.

The early bird is worth up to a quarter

There are two tiers, neither of which applies over the festive fortnight: 20% off for bookings at least 60 days before arrival, 25% off at 90 days. On a four-night Beach Villa in the green season that is ₹83,000 and ₹1,03,700 respectively, taking it to ₹4,65,200. On a week in the Ocean Pool Suite from October the 25% is worth ₹3,55,800.

It is not in the prices above and cannot be, because the discount depends on how far ahead you book rather than when you travel, so the same date qualifies or does not depending on the day you ask. Tell us your dates and we will apply whichever tier you qualify for. It cannot be combined with other offers, though it does stack with the honeymoon, anniversary and birthday extras.

The transfer is the number people miss

The domestic flight and speedboat are USD 700 per adult return, ₹1,44,100 for two, and they are not in the room rate. They are in every price on this page. Children 2 to 11.99 are ₹51,500 each and infants on a lap travel free. For the four-adult categories the transfer alone is ₹2,88,200.

It does not change with the length of your stay, which is the whole argument for going long here. A fourth night in a Beach Villa is ₹1,06,200 and nights five to seven together are ₹4,24,800, against ₹4,62,700 to walk through the door for three.

Domestic flights run to a fixed schedule and are shared, timed around other guests' international arrivals. A late arrival into Malé can mean an overnight in the capital before you fly south, and the return leg needs the same buffer. Give us your flight numbers at least fourteen days out; cancellations inside five days are charged the full transfer. Baggage is 20 kg checked and 5 kg hand, set by the airline.

What Premium All-Inclusive covers

• All meals across Mélange, Sol Rising, Phat Chameleon and Souq Oven
• Premium spirits, house red and white, beers, cocktails and mocktails
• In-villa mini bar, replenished once daily
• One hour a day of non-motorised watersports, kayaking and paddleboarding, minimum age five
• Snorkelling gear, beach volleyball, tennis, padel, pickleball and badminton
• Sunrise yoga, aqua aerobics, Zumba and the 24-hour gym

It does not cover excursions, motorised watersports, spa treatments, babysitting or open-water diving. The plan runs from 14:00 on arrival to 12:00 on departure, so anything ordered outside that window is charged at menu price. Entitlements are for guests on the booking only and cannot be shared with visitors. Takeaway is chargeable. At The Hub poolside bar the all-inclusive lunch menu is capped at three dishes per person between 11:00 and 14:00.

Diving needs a valid licence and mandatory insurance under Maldivian regulations. Short-term cover is sold at the dive centre.

Children

Up to two children under six stay and dine free, paying only the USD 12 green tax a night from age two. Children 6 to 11.99 are ₹39,900 a night including the all-inclusive plan and green tax, and an extra adult is ₹52,700. Baby cots are free.

Occupancy is tighter than it looks. The standard categories cap at three people, so a family of four needs a Family Beach Villa, a Family Beach Pool Villa, a two-bedroom or the Aqua Villa, and there are only two of each Family category on the island. Parents with young children in pool or overwater villas sign a liability disclaimer at check-in.

The two-bedroom categories are priced for four adults, not two, which is why they sit where they do above. Four adults in a Two Bedroom Beach Pool Villa over four nights in the green season is ₹14,88,000 against ₹11,37,800 for two separate Beach Villas, so the two-bedroom costs ₹3,50,200 more for a shared living room and one address.

Note the counts. There are 39 Ocean Pool Villas and only 14 Sunset Ocean Pool Villas, two of each Family category and one Aqua Villa. Ask for a sunset-facing villa by name and book it early; the west-facing terraces are the difference between a pleasant evening and the reason you came.

The Four Bedroom Ocean Pool Retreat is not in the dropdown. One unit, eight adults, and it runs from ₹10,29,000 a night in the green season. We quote it by hand.

The house reef

The coral here is in better condition than almost anywhere we see, and guests who have snorkelled a dozen islands rate it their best. The catch is getting to it. The reef sits well off the sunset side and it is a twenty-minute walk-and-swim on a calm day; the sunrise side faces open ocean and holds mostly fish nurseries.

Do not jump from a water villa deck. The water there is shallow and the current runs. Strong swimmers will love this island; hesitant ones should take the boat. Snorkelling has a minimum age of five and there is a PADI dive centre on site.

Who this isn't for

Short trips. The domestic flight adds real hours in each direction, and on three nights you lose most of two days to transit. Five nights is the sensible minimum, and the transfer arithmetic above agrees.

Anyone after a small, quiet island. This is 19 hectares with well over a hundred villas, a resident DJ and a live band most evenings. It has energy, which is exactly why many guests choose it, but you will not feel alone.

Anyone set on a seaplane arrival. This is a domestic flight, and the view on the way in is not the same.

Families of four on a budget. The standard categories take three people, so a fourth pushes you into a Family villa or a two-bedroom, and the step up is real.

Before you book

• Festive is not priced here. 24 December to 5 January carries a five-night minimum, no departures on 31 December, and mandatory gala dinners: ₹65,900 for two on Christmas Eve and ₹1,23,500 for two on New Year's Eve. We quote those dates by hand.
• Cancellation. Full payment falls due 14 days before arrival and cancellations inside 14 days are charged in full. Over the festive period both become 45 days.
• Green tax is USD 12 per person per night from age two and is already in every price above.
• Check-in is 14:00, check-out 12:00. Early check-in from 06:00 and late check-out to 18:00 are each half a night; after 18:00 it is a full night.
