Strong
A real reef with good marine life, but this is a large island and it is good stretches rather than a circuit. The best known are off the two sea-facing restaurants, where guests report blacktip reef sharks in numbers late in the afternoon, turtles and mantas. Two constraints. Entry is over rock and coral in places, so swim shoes matter, and the sunrise side is harder to get into than the sunset. One detailed account calls the coral dead and the entry unusable, against a much larger positive body. There is a coral research team on the island.

About the resort
Soneva Fushi is a large, jungle-covered island in Baa Atoll, the UNESCO biosphere reserve, 30 minutes from Velana by Soneva's own seaplane. It is barefoot luxury in the literal sense: you take your shoes off on arrival and rarely put them on again.
The villas sit hidden in the trees along the beach, and the only overwater villas are the Water Reserves, which have their own slide into the lagoon. Five kinds of villa are priced on this page, for couples and for families of four.
What you pay
Every price is for the whole stay: the villa, breakfast daily, the return seaplane and every Maldivian tax, for two people in the one-bedroom villas and four adults in the two-bedroom ones. The seaplane is a large part of the price, so a longer stay gives far better value per night.
Half board, full board and Soneva Unlimited, which covers food, drinks, most experiences and the spa, can be added, and we price them on request. Book ninety days ahead outside the peak and the villa is ten per cent less. We apply it when we price your stay.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: the villa, breakfast, a Barefoot Butler, a bottle of wine or champagne on arrival, soft drinks and snacks in the villa, the chocolate, ice cream, cheese and deli rooms, The Den kids' club, bicycles, snorkelling gear, kayaks and paddleboards, group yoga, tennis and padel, the Observatory, film nights at Cinema Paradiso, the return seaplane and every Maldivian tax.
Not in the price: lunch, dinner and drinks, spa treatments, diving, your international flights, travel insurance, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Anyone after a short break. With the seaplane in the price, three nights here is a costly way to see it, and four or more make sense. It also isn't for guests who want an overwater villa without paying for a Water Reserve, because every other villa is on the beach or in the trees.
The house reef has good stretches rather than a full circuit, and the entry is over rock in places, so bring reef shoes.
Before you book
Children under twelve stay and eat free on stays of four nights or more: two in a one or two-bedroom villa. Honeymooners on four nights or more get a sunset cocktail and a floating breakfast. The festive period is not priced on this page.

Can we add meals or Soneva Unlimited?
Yes. Half board, full board and Soneva Unlimited can all be added for everyone in the villa. Soneva Unlimited covers food and drinks across the island, most experiences apart from diving, and unlimited spa treatments. Tell us which you want and we will price it into your stay.
Which villas have a slide?
The One Bedroom and Two Bedroom Water Reserves. Both sit over the lagoon with a private pool and a slide from the deck into the water. Every other villa at Soneva Fushi is on the beach or among the trees.
Is Soneva Fushi good for families?
Yes, it is one of the best family islands in the Maldives. The Den is a large kids' club, and on stays of four nights or more two children under twelve stay and eat free in a one or two-bedroom villa. The Family Villa Suite and the One Bedroom Water Reserve both have a separate children's bedroom.
