House reef

Our rating 4/5 Strong

Guests report reef sharks, rays and turtles straight off the water villas, and the eastern side of Mabin is the side worth asking for. The main reef sits about five minutes offshore and Prodivers runs a free snorkelling boat out to it, so you do not have to swim the gap. Fins are required and it needs confident swimmers, minimum age six. Not every stretch of beach is equally good for swimming, so ask at the dive centre which side is working.

Honeymoom of dreams

We travelled in September for our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived & was greeted by Zaleeq (who was our island host) we was made to feel completely at home & welcomed.
Mcollins, September 2025

Best place to make a proposal and have great dinners.

Location is incredible though during our stay the sunrise side was outshining the sunset side because of the calm waters, no seaweed on the sand and rich snorkling area (turtles, sharks, fishes,...

About the resort

Jawakara Islands Maldives is two islands rather than one. Mabin and Dheru sit in Lhaviyani Atoll, joined by a 650 metre bridge over the house reef, 35 minutes by seaplane from Velana. Between them they hold 290 villas, a golf course and a kids club that runs to seventeen.

It is built for families and groups who want things to do. Mabin is the busy island, 1,400 metres long, with four restaurants, the kids club, the golf course and the clinic. Dheru is 450 metres and quieter: two restaurants and an overwater spa. The bridge gives you both whichever one you book.

What you pay

Pick your dates and a villa above and the price is the whole stay for two: the villa, breakfast every morning, the return seaplane and every Maldivian tax. Nothing is added at the resort.

Dates move this price more than the villa does. The dearest dates on this page run 30 to 40 per cent above the cheapest, while moving from a beach villa to one over the water adds 10 to 18 per cent, so picking the cheaper week usually pays for the better villa.

Seven nights comes to less than twice the price of three, because the seaplane is a fixed part of every stay. Three nights is the shortest Jawakara Islands Maldives sells, and it is charged even on a shorter visit.

What's included, and what isn't

In the price: the villa for two, breakfast every morning, the return seaplane for two adults, and every Maldivian tax.

Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, Indian TCS (what TCS adds), anything you order on the island, and anything not named above. Half board, full board and the Premium All Inclusive sit above breakfast and are priced on request, as are four, six and longer stays, and the three bedroom villas that sleep five.

Who this isn't for

Anyone after a small, quiet island. This is 290 villas, two islands, six restaurants and six bars. Dheru is the calmer end of it, but neither island is a hideaway.

Anyone landing in the evening. The seaplane flies in daylight only and the last one leaves the resort around 16:00, so a late arrival at Velana means a night in Malé first. A domestic flight and a boat can be arranged instead, on request, and that routing runs after dark.

Anyone set on Christmas or New Year. The festive fortnight is not priced on this page, because both gala dinners are compulsory.

Before you book

Children are welcome in every villa, including the ones over the water. Jawa Kids takes four to seventeen, and Mabin has the golf course, padel, tennis, pickleball and futsal for older ones. Standard occupancy is two, and most of the categories priced here take a third guest.

The reef is the best thing here. Reef sharks, rays and turtles turn up straight off the water villas, and the eastern side of Mabin is the side to ask for. Prodivers runs a free snorkelling boat out to the main reef five minutes offshore: fins are mandatory, the minimum age is six, and it is for confident swimmers. Check in is 14:00, check out 12:00.

Send us your dates and we will price two or three villas with everything inside the number, tell you what the meal plans add, and say which flights land in time for the seaplane. Message our Maldives specialists on WhatsApp or send us an enquiry. We reply within 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Jawakara Islands Maldives, and how do you get there?

Jawakara sits in Lhaviyani Atoll on two islands, Mabin and Dheru, joined by a 650 metre bridge. The transfer is a seaplane from Velana International Airport, about 35 minutes, and seaplanes fly in daylight only. A domestic flight to Madivaru followed by a boat can be arranged on request, and that routing runs after dark.

Is Jawakara good for families?

Yes, and unusually so. Children stay in every villa, including the ones over the water, Jawa Kids takes ages four to seventeen, and Mabin has a golf course, futsal, tennis, padel and pickleball. What is the difference between Mabin and Dheru?

Mabin is the big island, 1,400 metres long, with four restaurants, the kids club, the golf course, the spa, the dive centre and the clinic. Dheru is 450 metres with two restaurants and an overwater spa. The bridge means you can use both whichever you book.

What is the house reef like?

The villa for two for the nights shown, breakfast every morning, the return seaplane for two adults and every Maldivian tax, including the green tax. Three nights is the shortest stay. Yes, on stays between 15 May and 31 October 2027 booked by 30 November 2026. Up to two children aged 2 to 11 stay free in their parents' villa, on the same meal plan.
