One of the better reefs within easy reach of Male. It runs along the island and guests get in from the shore or from the water villa steps, where there is a rope to pull yourself out, which genuinely helps a nervous swimmer. Blacktips, turtles, eagle rays and mantas all get reported. The drift is the thing to plan: get in up by the honeymoon suites and let the tide carry you back. Wear something on your feet, there are stones and sharp coral at some entries, and triggerfish are about. Guided house reef snorkelling is included in the plan.

About the resort
OBLU SELECT Sangeli is a large, green island in North Malé Atoll, fifty minutes from Velana International Airport by the resort's speedboat. It takes couples and families alike, and it has one of the better house reefs within easy reach of the airport.
There are 137 villas in six kinds, on the beach and over the lagoon, all sold on the Serenity Plan, an all-inclusive plan that also covers a spa treatment and two dinners at the speciality restaurants. A small islet next door, One Banyan, is kept for adults until sunset.
What you pay
The price on this page is for two adults, for four nights, on the Serenity Plan, with the speedboat both ways and every Maldivian tax inside it. Four nights is the shortest stay priced here. Three nights can be booked, but it carries a supplement, so each night comes to more.
The Beach Villa is the entry point and the Water Villa sits only a little above it. The Two Bedroom Beach Pool Suite is priced for the villa with up to four guests, so a family of four pays the figure shown plus the green tax on the children. Christmas and New Year carry no compulsory gala dinner.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your villa for four nights; breakfast, lunch and dinner at The Courtyard; spirits, wines and beers at The Courtyard, The Sangs Bar, the One Banyan bar and the speciality restaurants, with cocktails at the bars; the house pours at the Bottega Prosecco bar; a minibar restocked daily.
Also in the price: two meals each at Just Wok or Just Grill; one 45-minute spa treatment for each adult; one sunset fishing trip each, plus a guided snorkelling trip or a moonlight cruise; snorkelling gear, kayaks and paddleboards; the gym, the tennis court and the kids' club; the return speedboat; and every Maldivian tax.
Not in the price: in-villa dining, the premium Bottega list, further spa treatments, diving and motorised water sports, other excursions, your international flights, travel insurance, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Couples who want an adults-only island: children are welcome here, and OBLU SELECT Lobigili is the quieter choice. With 137 villas this is not an intimate hideaway. The boat ride is fifty minutes and can be bumpy on a windy day, and some guests find the buffet menu repeats over a longer stay.
Before you book
Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at noon, and the Serenity Plan stops at 11:00 on your last day. Honeymooners married within the past year get a decorated bed, a candlelit dinner, a cake and a bath on turndown, on stays of four nights or more. Bring a copy of your wedding certificate.
The Honeymoon SELECT Ocean Villa is for couples only and adds champagne, a shared butler, and lunch or dinner at any of the three restaurants. You can split four nights between two villa types, two nights each, though the resort may swap the order. Outside boats cannot collect guests. Send us your flight numbers and we will pass them to the resort.

Where is OBLU SELECT Sangeli, and how do I get there?
In North Malé Atoll, about fifty minutes from Velana International Airport by the resort's speedboat. The boat is in the price whichever villa you book, so there is no seaplane or domestic flight to add. The crossing can be bumpy on a windy day. Send us your flight numbers and we will pass them to the resort.
What does the Serenity Plan include?
All meals at The Courtyard; spirits, wines and beers at the main bars and restaurants; a minibar restocked daily. On a four-night stay each guest also gets two meals at Just Wok or Just Grill, a sunset fishing trip and a guided snorkelling trip or moonlight cruise, and each adult a 45-minute spa treatment. Is the house reef good?
It is one of the better reefs within easy reach of the airport. You get in from the beach or down the water villa steps, and guests report blacktip sharks, turtles and eagle rays. Plan for the current: start near the honeymoon villas and let it carry you back. Wear reef shoes, as some entries are stony.
Is OBLU SELECT Sangeli good for families?
Yes. There is a kids' club, a slide into the lagoon and a main pool, and the Two Bedroom Beach Pool Suite sleeps four adults and two children. Beach villas take two adults and two children. Under-sixteens can eat at the speciality restaurants at dinner only. Ask us whether a children-stay-free offer applies to your dates.
Is it a good choice for a honeymoon?
Yes, if you do not mind children on the island. The six Honeymoon SELECT Ocean Villas are for couples only, with a pool, a butler and meals at any restaurant, and One Banyan is an adults-only islet by day. Couples married within the past year get extra touches on four nights or more. For no children at all, look at OBLU SELECT Lobigili.

The prices on this page are built on four nights. Three nights can be booked, but it carries a supplement, so each night comes to more. Tell us your dates and we will price three nights for you.
Can we book Christmas or New Year?
Yes, and there is no compulsory gala dinner on either night. The festive period is priced on this page at its own rate.
