The reef is on the sunset side and that is the side to book, with entry straight off the water villa deck or from the beach. Guests report coral and reef fish close in, blacktip sharks, turtles, octopus and stingrays. Two honest limits: it is one side of the island rather than a circuit, and the water gets rough enough at times that villa entry is uncomfortable, particularly at the start of the wet season. Dredging nearby makes clarity unreliable, and anyone who has snorkelled a remote atoll will find the density lower here. Gear is included.

About the resort
OBLU SELECT Lobigili is an adults-only island in North Malé Atoll, fifteen minutes from Velana International Airport by the resort's own speedboat. Nobody under eighteen stays here, and every villa is built for two.
There are 68 villas in three kinds, all sold on the Lobi Plan, an all-inclusive plan that also covers a spa treatment and two special dinners. A bridge joins the island to OBLU Xperience Ailafushi, its livelier family sister, so you can visit for a show or a change of scene and come back to a quiet beach.
What you pay
The price on this page is for two adults, for four nights, on the Lobi Plan, with the speedboat both ways and every Maldivian tax inside it. Four nights is the shortest stay priced here. Three nights can be booked, but it carries a supplement, so each night comes to more.
The step up from a Nest Water Villa to a pool villa is modest on most dates. Christmas and New Year carry no compulsory gala dinner.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your villa for four nights; breakfast, lunch and dinner at Ylang Ylang; spirits, wines, beers and signature cocktails at Ylang Ylang and The Swing Bar; a minibar restocked daily with drinks and snacks.
Also in the price: one dinner each at Only Blu, the underwater restaurant, and at the beach food truck; one 45-minute spa treatment each; one sunset fishing trip and one guided snorkelling trip each; snorkelling gear, kayaks and paddleboards; the gym and tennis court; the return speedboat; and every Maldivian tax.
Not in the price: in-villa dining, shisha and cigars, the lobster night, further spa treatments, diving and motorised water sports, other excursions, your international flights, travel insurance, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Families, first of all: children cannot stay. Travellers who want a remote island should know the airport and Malé are close by, and nearby dredging can cloud the water. Guests also report days when a red flag closes the sea, which is when a pool villa earns its place. Snorkellers should know the reef runs along one side of the island only.
Before you book
Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at noon, and the Lobi Plan stops at 11:00 on your last day. Honeymooners married within the past year get a decorated bed, a cake, a special dinner and a bath on turndown, on stays of four nights or more. Bring a copy of your wedding certificate.
You can split four nights between two villa types, two nights each, though the resort may swap the order. Outside boats cannot collect guests, so every trip goes through the resort. Send us your flight numbers and we will pass them to the resort.

It runs along one side rather than all the way round, and nearby dredging can cloud the water, so the guided snorkelling trip in the plan is worth taking.
Can children stay at OBLU SELECT Lobigili?
No. The island is adults only, for guests aged eighteen and over, and every villa is built for two. Families who like the OBLU all-inclusive style should look at OBLU Xperience Ailafushi, the family island next door, which has a kids' club and family rooms.
Is it a good choice for a honeymoon?
