The house reef here has a name, Neru Faru, and it is a proper North Male dive site, sloping from two metres to twenty-five with healthy hard coral, reef sharks, turtles and nurse sharks. Only one side of the overwater villas faces the reef and snorkelling is not permitted on the other, so ask us to confirm your villa before you book. The water under the villas is deep, so there is no coral underfoot, which suits nervous swimmers. The island is man-made and the reef is still filling in, but it is already better than most of what is within half an hour of Male.

About the resort
At Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa, up to two children under 12 stay free with their parents, with half board from the kids' menu and the return speedboat included. Krakengiri, the kids' club, is one of the largest in the Maldives.
The island is 20 minutes by shared speedboat from Velana, and the boats run day and night, so any flight connects. Every villa has its own pool. It is a lively, family-first resort on a man-made island, and it does not pretend to be remote.
What you pay
Pick your dates and a villa and the price is the whole stay for two adults: the villa, half board or full board, the return shared speedboat, green tax and every other tax.
The boat is inside the price you see, free on some dates and discounted on others.
The family villa is the easiest upgrade on the island. The One-Bedroom Family Beach Pool Villa is a few thousand rupees more and adds a sofa bed, a gazebo and a swing.
Full board adds lunch. Take it only if you will sit down to lunch every day.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your pool villa for two, breakfast and dinner daily, or all three meals on full board, the return shared speedboat, and every Maldivian tax including green tax. Children under 12 who stay free get the same boat and kids' menu half board.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, drinks, because both meal plans cover food only, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Couples after a hushed, adults-only island. Hilton Maldives Amingiri is built around families, with a big kids' club and family movie nights, and the airport is 20 minutes away.
Families with teenagers counting on the free-child offer. It stops at 12. From 12 to 17 a child is charged as an extra guest, with their own transfer. Tell us the ages and we will price it.
Snorkellers who will not gamble on the villa side. The house reef, Neru Faru, is a real North Malé dive site, reached from the beach and the water villa jetty. Guests report that only one side of the overwater villas faces it and that snorkelling is not permitted on the other. The reef is still young. Ask us which side your villa is on.
Before you book
Three nights is the shortest stay.
Plan dinners around two venues. Habitat and Aura open every night, and the other restaurants open on the resort's schedule. Book destination dining before you arrive.
The festive period is not priced on this page. It carries compulsory gala dinners on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, and nobody checks out on New Year's Eve. We can still book it.
Two-bedroom villas and The Residence, a six-bedroom house, are not priced on this page, and a split stay needs at least two nights in each villa. We can book both.
