Our stay at Canareef Resort was truly memorable

We had a wonderful stay at Canareef Resort. From the moment we arrived, the reception team welcomed us with bright smiles and genuine warmth. The excellent food, stunning surroundings, and relaxing bike rides around the island made the experience even more memorable. We were also delighted with a complimentary room upgrade — the room was absolutely beautiful. A special thank you to the housekeeping team for thoughtfully checking in to see if we needed anything, which made us feel truly cared for. We highly recommend Canareef Resort and can't wait to return.

Unforgettable vacation

Very beautiful hotel with magnificent rooms and wonderful staff. We will recommend this establishment to anyone wanting to visit the Maldives. Chérif, the person who took care of our room, was very efficient and above all very attentive. Not to mention Bianca, our representative, who was always very available with rare professionalism and exceptional kindness. Great sadness to leave you. — Bruno and Angélique

Great place to relax

Great place for a family vacation. The island itself is great — shark feeding at the dock at 5:45pm, turtles swimming to Barracuda beach bar, crab races at Dhoni Bar. Beautiful reefs with awesome fish (snorkelling at the highest level). We took a bungalow in a quiet and peaceful lagoon. The food is pretty good overall. Overall the experience is great, I will definitely try to get to Canareef again.

Canareef Resort Maldives

Regular price₹ 132,000
/
Double occupancy, 3 nights, meal plan as shown on each package, return domestic flight and speedboat from Malé, all taxes included except TCS · valid until 31 Oct 2026

Canareef sits in Addu Atoll, the southernmost in the country, next door to Gan International Airport. Three nights for two on half board start at ₹132,000 with the flights down from Male and back inside the number. It is the cheapest resort stay we sell, by some distance.

Come here as a diver. Addu has more than twenty-seven dive sites, manta cleaning stations and the British Loyalty, a WWII tanker you can swim inside.

Three villas, all on the beach. There are no overwater villas here.

What you pay

Pick a villa and a package above. Board basis and travel dates move together on this rate, and the minimum stay is three nights.

Every price is the total for two adults: the villa, the meal plan, return Male transfers and every Maldivian tax.

The Male transfer is the largest single line inside each figure, about ₹90,600 for two in September and October and more from November. If you can fly into Gan instead, ask us before you book flights and we will price it both ways.

September is the cheapest month, and the three villas sit close together, so moving up a category is unusually good value.

What’s included, and what isn’t

In the price: the villa, your meal plan as buffet dining at Kilhi, return Male transfers for two, one dolphin watching excursion, and every Maldivian tax.

Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, the other restaurants and bars, snorkelling and diving trips to the outer reefs, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.

The complimentary speedboat from Gan belongs to a current offer and carries its own conditions. Canareef has told us plainly it is not free on every booking. Tell us your dates and we will confirm in writing whether yours qualifies before you buy a flight into Gan.

All inclusive and full board are both quotable above half board. On an island you will not leave, all inclusive is usually money well spent. Ask us what it covers on drinks.

Who this isn’t for

Anyone who wants a house reef outside the door. Canareef says so itself. There are coral patches near the Beach Bar at the southern tip, and how good they are depends on the sea that day. The sunset side is sandy and barely two metres deep a long way out, and the sunrise side is rocky and choppy. Anything better is a paid boat trip.

Anyone whose Maldives picture is an overwater villa. All three categories are on the beach.

Anyone travelling on Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve. Compulsory gala supplements sit on top of the price whichever plan you are on, so we quote those dates by hand.

Before you book

These rates have a deadline. September and October stays have to be booked by 31 October 2026, and everything from November by 30 September 2026.

Free cancellation to fourteen days before arrival, half between fourteen and seven days, and the full stay inside seven. Over the festive fortnight that tightens to thirty and fifteen days. Leaving early is charged in full.

Children under two stay free, and there are child rates from two upwards. The Male transfer is charged for a child; from Gan it is not.

Canareef adds a surcharge on card payments at its own end, so plan to settle extras another way.

Tell us your dates, your villa and which airport you can fly into. We will price it both ways, Gan and Male, so you can see what the routing is worth, and confirm the Gan transfer in writing before you commit. Message our Maldives specialists on WhatsApp or send us an enquiry. We reply within 24 hours.

House reef 2/5 Thin

Little or nothing to snorkel off the beach. Some islands in this band run a free boat to a reef — the note below says whether this one does.

There is no true house reef within swimming distance here, and the resort tells us so itself. Snorkelling straight off the beach comes down to a few coral patches around the southern tip of the island, near the Beach Bar, and even those depend on the sea on the day. Beyond that the sunset side is sandy and no more than two metres deep a long way out, and the sunrise side is rocky and choppy. Anything better is a paid boat trip to a neighbouring reef. What Addu really offers is the diving: some of the healthiest coral in the Maldives, a WWII wreck you can go inside, and manta sites. Come here as a diver, or come for the quiet and the length of that beach. Do not come for the house reef.

Getting there

Route Domestic flight + speedboat
Journey 105 min, airport to island
Last arrival that works 22:00

Land at Velana after 22:00 and the last transfer of the day will have gone, which means a night in Malé before you reach the island.

Resort asks for flight details at least 14 days ahead. The complimentary speedboat from Gan is part of a specific offer rather than a standing inclusion: only bookings that meet that offer's conditions get the Gan leg free. Ask us to confirm it against your dates before you budget.

Transfer details last checked September 2026. We re-check yours against your actual ticket before we quote. See what your flight can reach →

A day here, honestly

Distance sets the shape of your day here. Canareef sits in Addu, roughly five hundred kilometres south of everything else we sell, and that single fact decides how you arrive, what the water is worth and who this island suits.

  • Getting here Domestic flight + speedboat, 105 min · latest Velana arrival 22:00
  • Highest plan sold All-inclusive
  • House reef 2 of 5

Day 1, arriving

Two completely different journeys reach this island, and which one you take is worth real money. Fly into Male and it is a domestic flight south plus a boat, around 105 minutes of travelling, and the transfer is charged. Fly into Gan instead and the resort's boat is free for everyone, adults, children and infants alike. No other island we sell has a free arrival. If your routing allows Gan, take it. The resort wants flight details at least fourteen days ahead either way, which is longer notice than most, so do not leave it to the week before.

Do these three things when you land.

  • Tell us your routing before you book. Gan against Male is the difference between a free transfer and a paid one for two.
  • Ask the dive centre what is running that week. This is a diving island first and the good sites need planning.
  • Claim your complimentary dolphin cruise. It is one per person per stay and it is easy to forget until the last day.

Days 2 to 3, your full days

Mornings

Little to snorkel from the beach. The reef here is a boat trip.

There is one good stretch of house reef, at the beach bar end, where the water is shallow and the fish life is genuinely good. Beyond that, the sunset side is sandy and barely two metres deep a long way out, and the sunrise side is rocky and choppy. What Addu actually offers is underwater: some of the healthiest coral left in the Maldives, a WWII wreck you can swim inside, and manta sites.

Divers
This is why you came. Addu's sites are the argument for travelling this far south, and they are not crowded the way the central atolls are.
Snorkellers
Work the beach bar end, and take the paid trip to the better reef at the neighbouring resort at least once. Do not plan every morning around the house reef.
Anyone here for the beach
Walk it. The length of that beach is the quiet pleasure of this island and it does not appear in any photograph properly.

Afternoons

Pools, gym, tennis, beach volleyball, billiards and table tennis are all included, as is the dolphin cruise once per person per stay. Beyond that the resort runs its own excursion programme and we are asking Canareef for the current schedule and prices rather than guessing at them. The Addu links road and Gan are genuinely worth a trip if you want to see something other than a resort island.

Evenings

Meals are buffet at Kilhi, the main restaurant, on whichever plan you take. Half board, full board and all-inclusive are all sold. Be clear-eyed about the all-inclusive here: we grade it 2 out of 5, which is our second-lowest band, so read what it actually covers before paying the supplement. Service charge, GST and the green tax are already inside the rate, so nothing lands at check-in from those.

Day 4, leaving

The domestic flight needs a buffer in both directions and it is a long way back. If you flew into Gan you go out the same easy way. Reconfirm the connection the evening before either way.

What you will still pay

Less than you would expect, because the rate already carries service charge, GST and the green tax. What reaches the folio is diving, the paid reef trip to the neighbouring island, the spa and anything outside your meal plan. Card payments carry a 3.5 per cent surcharge, which is unusual and worth knowing before you settle.

Who this island's day does not suit

Anyone whose morning is a snorkel off their own steps, and anyone who wants to be near Male. This is the long way south, and the reason to come is the diving and the quiet, not convenience.

Tell us your flight times and we will check this against your actual dates.Ask on WhatsApp
