Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives renovation: what to expect until 30 November 2026

The refurbishment at Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives in South Malé Atoll has been extended to 30 November 2026. The resort has told us plainly that some phases are noisier than it first expected, so here is what is happening on the island.

What is changing

• Kandooma Beach Club: the new beach club is taking shape, and its rooftop surface is now in place.
• The restaurant formerly called The Asian Kitchen reopens at the end of September on an interim menu, until its final kitchen equipment is installed.
• Villa refresh: villas are being refreshed in phases.
• New family pool villas: their pools arrive in mid-November, and the resort expects the villas to be ready before the festive season.

If you are travelling before December

Before the family pool villas are installed, their gardens will be excavated with diggers and other heavy equipment, and you may see building materials being moved around the island. The resort is placing guests in villas well away from the works.
