Grand Park Kodhipparu felt effortless when we visited in 2019, especially with just a short twenty-minute ride across the water from Malé. Morning coffee overlooking the shallow turquoise drop-off while watching baby blacktip sharks glide past the villa stairs was unforgettable. The house reef is lively, healthy, and right at your feet. The catch: being situated relatively close to the capital means you occasionally hear faint engine hums on the horizon. Best for travelers who want immediate, barefoot overwater living without burning half a day on long transfers.
