Worth choosing the resort for. One or two caveats on entry point or current.
The reef did not change when the resort did. You enter directly, from steps at the overwater villas or across the lagoon from the beach, and guests report eagle rays, turtles, blacktips, octopus and schooling batfish, with a wreck at thirty metres just off the reef for divers. A resident marine scientist runs the coral nursery work. Three caveats. At low tide the water villa entry is awkward. The coral is recovering rather than intact. And guests in the same month this year reported both plenty of fish and very few, so it is not consistent.
