Staying on a local island
Nala Island Village Maafushi stands on an island where Maldivians live and work, so the island's rules apply to everyone staying there.
No alcohol. It is not sold or served anywhere on an inhabited island. Swimwear on the tourist beach. In the village, cover shoulders and knees. Friday is the day off. Shops close for prayers and fewer boats run, so check your transfer times if you arrive or leave on a Friday.

About the hotel
Nala Island Village is a small hotel on Maafushi with ten rooms, from a double to a family room that sleeps four. It suits couples and families who want a clean, simple base for excursions at one of the lowest prices among the Maafushi hotels on our site. Every price includes the room, breakfast, the return shared speedboat and every tax, green tax included.
What this actually costs
The Double Room is the cheapest and is about 15 square metres. The Triple Room is a little larger and costs about an eighth more for two people. The Quadruple Family Room, about 20 square metres and built for four, costs about a quarter more. Prices shown cover two people; tell us who else is travelling and we will add them.
Breakfast is the only meal plan here. Maafushi has plenty of cafés within a short walk, so dinner is easy to find.
October is the cheapest window. From November to 19 December the same room costs about a seventh more, and the Christmas and New Year fortnight about a third more. From 11 January to the end of April prices fall back to within a tenth of October. Dates from May 2027 are not priced on this page yet; ask and we will price them.
Who this isn’t for
Anyone who wants a drink. Maafushi is an inhabited island and no alcohol is served on it. It is also busy, with boats, scooters and many other guest houses close by.
The rooms look over the garden or the village, not the sea, and there is no pool. If either matters, look at the other Maafushi hotels on our site.
Before you book
Rooms have air-conditioning, a hot shower, Wi-Fi, a television, a minibar and a safe. Breakfast is continental or local, and the hotel can cater for vegetarian and other diets if you tell us in advance.
One child under 10 can share the existing bed in any room. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before arrival; after that, or if you do not arrive, the whole stay is charged.
The shared speedboat from Velana takes 35 to 45 minutes and runs to a timetable, not to your flight. Tell us when you land and we will match you to a boat, or arrange a night in Malé if you land late.
Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at 12:00.
