h78 Iru Hulhumalé

h78 Iru is a small city hotel in Hulhumalé, ten to fifteen minutes by car from Velana airport, a short walk from the beach. Every price includes the room, your meal plan, the shared car to and from the airport and every tax, green tax included.

It suits a short city stay with the beach a few minutes away, on its own or either side of an island stay. The car meets you at arrivals at any hour, so h78 Iru works for late flights that no resort or guest house boat will meet.

What you pay

The Double Room is the cheapest and fine for a couple. The Deluxe Double is a little larger for about a tenth more. The Superior Room adds a balcony over the town and comes as a double or a twin, for about a fifth to a quarter more than the Double.

The Junior Suite is the largest room and the only one that takes an extra bed, so it is the one for a family or three friends. It comes to around half as much again as the Double.

Half board adds dinner and full board adds lunch as well. On the smaller rooms half board puts a third to a half again on the night, so breakfast only, eating out in Hulhumalé, is usually the better buy.

The festive fortnight is the dearest stretch, about a third above the low season. Pick your dates above. A stay that runs across two seasons comes through to us with the dates already filled in.

What's included, and what isn't

In the price: your room for the nights you pick, breakfast daily, dinner on half board and lunch too on full board, the return shared car between the airport and h78 Iru, the green tax and every Maldivian tax. Every room has air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a wardrobe and blackout curtains, and the hotel has a lift, a 24-hour front desk, room service and beach towels.

Not in the price: a private car, early check-in or late check-out outside the free hours, excursions, your international flights, travel insurance, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.

Who this isn't for

Anyone who wants a drink. h78 Iru serves no alcohol, and bikinis and revealing swimwear are not allowed in its public areas.

Anyone who wants a sea view or a resort. The balconies look over the town, and Hulhumalé is a busy planned city, not a holiday island. Come here for the convenience, not the view.

Before you book

Three nights is the shortest stay priced on this page. Ask us for a shorter stopover. Send us your flight times and we arrange the pick-up. The shared car may wait 20 to 30 minutes for other guests landing near your flight. For your flight home, the car leaves h78 Iru two to three hours before departure.

Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at 12:00. Arriving between 11:00 and 14:00, or leaving by 14:00, is free if the room is ready, but tell us a day ahead. Arriving from 06:00 to 11:00, or leaving between 14:00 and 18:00, is US$30. Before 06:00 or after 18:00 counts as an extra night, so book the night before an early landing.

Children under two stay free in their parents' room. The Junior Suite sleeps up to four.
