The last speedboat of the day leaves at 16:00. Allow an hour to clear the airport, so land well before then or plan a night in Malé before you reach the island.

Staying on a local island
h78 Guraidhoo stands on an island where Maldivians live and work, so the island's rules apply to everyone staying there.
No alcohol. It is not sold or served anywhere on an inhabited island. Swimwear on the tourist beach. In the village, cover shoulders and knees. Friday is the day off. Shops close for prayers and fewer boats run, so check your transfer times if you arrive or leave on a Friday.
Ask us about any of this before you book. We would rather you knew now than on the jetty.
About the hotel
h78 Guraidhoo is a hotel on Guraidhoo, an inhabited island in South Malé Atoll about 35 to 45 minutes from the airport by speedboat. Every price includes the room, your choice of meals, the return speedboat, the green tax and every Maldivian tax.
It has an infinity pool, a jacuzzi, a spa, a gym, a kids' club, a rooftop lounge and its own stretch of beach. It suits families and couples who want local-island prices without giving up a pool and a proper restaurant, and friends travelling as a group of four.
What you pay
Rooms come in two outlooks. Sunset Island rooms face across the island and catch the evening sky. Sunrise Ocean rooms face the sea and cost a little more, roughly a few thousand rupees on a three-night stay. Both are 22 square metres.
The Prime rooms are larger, at 26 square metres, and add about a sixth to the stay. The Sunrise Ocean Prime is the best room in the hotel for a couple.
The two-bedroom rooms are two connecting rooms of 44 square metres in all, for up to four people. They are priced here for four adults, with four speedboat seats included, so for a family or two couples they cost a little less than two separate rooms, with a door between them.
Half board adds dinner and full board adds lunch and dinner. On a three-night stay for two, each step adds roughly ten to fifteen thousand rupees.
The dry season from December to April is the dearest stretch. May to September is the quietest and cheapest, by about a tenth. The Christmas and New Year fortnight, 20 December to 5 January, includes compulsory gala dinners, so we price those dates for you directly. Pick your dates above; a stay that runs across two seasons comes through to us with the dates already filled in.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your room for the nights you pick, breakfast daily, dinner on half board, lunch and dinner on full board, the return shared speedboat between the airport and Guraidhoo, the green tax and every Maldivian tax. Guests can use the infinity pool, the jacuzzi, the gym, the beach and Wi-Fi.
Not in the price: excursions, water sports and spa treatments, a private speedboat, your international flights, travel insurance, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Anyone who wants a drink. Guraidhoo is an inhabited island and no alcohol is served at the hotel, including at the rooftop and beach bars. Swimwear such as bikinis is for the hotel's beach areas only; dress modestly in the village.
Anyone landing late in the evening. The hotel's speedboat leaves the airport at 09:00, 13:00 and 17:00. If your flight lands after about 16:00, you will need a private boat or a public speedboat, and we will price that with the stay.
Anyone after a quiet hideaway. With a kids' club, a pool and a function room, this is a lively hotel rather than a small guest house.
Before you book
The speedboat is shared with other h78 guests and stops briefly in Malé on the way. It runs to a timetable, not to your flight, and the times can shift on busy days; the hotel confirms them the day before. Going home, boats leave Guraidhoo at 05:30, 10:30 and 16:00, and the hotel puts you on one that reaches the airport two to three hours before your flight.
Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at 12:00. Checking in at 13:00 or out at 14:00 is free if the room is ready and you ask a day ahead. Children under two stay free, and a baby cot can be arranged. Smoking is allowed only in the marked area.
The hotel runs its own trips: snorkelling with nurse sharks and turtles at Shark Bay, dolphin and sandbank days in Vaavu Atoll, manta and turtle reef snorkelling, sunset dolphin cruises and fishing. Jet skis, banana rides, kayaks and paddleboards are on the beach, and the Tropical Tranquility Spa offers Balinese, aromatherapy, deep tissue and couples' treatments with Spa Ceylon products. Divers will find Cocoa Corner, Guraidhoo Corner and Kandooma Thila close by. Ask us to add any of them when we price the stay.
