Worth choosing the resort for. One or two caveats on entry point or current.
You climb down the water bungalow ladder and you are on the reef, which is as direct as Maldives snorkelling gets. Guests report reef sharks in numbers, several turtles in a single swim, octopus, cuttlefish and eagle rays, and the marine life is the strong part of this island. The coral is the weak part: one guest recently described the island as ringed by bleached reef, and accounts go both ways. Because the coral starts so close to shore the entry is sharp, so reef shoes are worth having. Wind can make getting in and out awkward.
