Staying on a local island
Cozy Art Dhangethi stands on an island where Maldivians live and work, so the island's rules apply to everyone staying there.
No alcohol. It is not sold or served anywhere on an inhabited island. Swimwear on the tourist beach. In the village, cover shoulders and knees. Friday is the day off. Shops close for prayers and fewer boats run, so check your transfer times if you arrive or leave on a Friday.

About the hotel
Cozy Art Dhangethi is an eleven-room hotel on Dhangethi in South Ari Atoll, one minute on foot from the island's bikini beach and the reef edge. South Ari is the Maldives' best-known water for whale sharks, and the hotel runs trips to find them.
It suits couples and snorkellers who want the sea close and a quiet place to come back to. The rooms are set around a green, sheltered courtyard, and three of them face the sea.
What you pay
We price Cozy Art Dhangethi on request. Send us your dates and who is travelling, and we will come back with one figure for the room, your meals and the return speedboat from Velana.
Eight rooms look over the courtyard and three look straight out to sea. Every room has its own balcony or private sit-out, so the sea-view rooms are the ones to ask for if the view matters.

Who this isn't for
Anyone who wants a drink. Dhangethi is an inhabited island and no alcohol is served on it.
Anyone who wants to sunbathe anywhere. Swimwear is for the bikini beach; around the village, shoulders and knees are covered.
Before you book
The shared speedboat from Velana runs to a timetable, not to your flight, and the crossing is long, at around one and a half to two hours. Tell us when you land and we will match you to a boat, or arrange a night in Malé if you land late.
Rooms have tea and coffee making, and Wi-Fi runs through the whole property. The hotel arranges whale shark and nurse shark snorkelling, scuba diving, sunset, night and big game fishing.
