Getting there
Send us your inbound flight time before you buy the ticket. The seaplane will not fly after dark, and an evening landing at Velana means a night in the capital at your own expense rather than a night on the island you have paid for.

The offer on the product page is a split stay and nothing else. Every combination is two nights in a beach category plus two over the water, which is why there is no single-villa four-night price on the dropdown. A stay in one villa throughout is entirely possible; we quote it by hand.
Six of these eleven categories are in the offer. The two Family Pavilions, both Temptation villas and the LUX* Villa sit outside it.
The Beach Pavilion, the Beach Villa and the Maldives Water Villa have no pool. The first pool over the water is the Overwater Infinity Pool Villa, and it takes two adults only.

Eight places to eat and five bars
MIXE is the main restaurant, global, breakfast 07:00 to 10:30 and dinner 18:30 to 22:00. Senses sits at the edge of the infinity pool: seafood, Moroccan tagines and Indian Ocean curries, lunch and dinner, with the bar open until midnight.
EAST Market is South-East Asian and overwater. Beach Rouge is the beach club, wood-fired pizza and grilled seafood. Café LUX* roasts its own beans and opens at 06:00.
Allegria (Italian) and Umami (Japanese teppanyaki) are the two that sit outside every meal plan. You get a US$30 credit per person per meal towards the bill rather than the meal itself.
Lagoon Bar and Veli Bar both do lunch from noon and close at 17:00.
How the plans work
Take full board rather than half. In most travel windows it upgrades free to all inclusive, though not between 27 December and 16 January.
Everyone in the villa takes the same plan, and children under six eat free on their parents’.
There is a dress code and the resort prints it. A cover-up over swimwear at the daytime restaurants, and elegantly dressed in the evening. Pack accordingly, because it is not the barefoot-anywhere island some of its neighbours are.
The water
Why we rate it 2 out of 5
The lagoon is sand. Lovely to swim in, warm and shallow, and close to empty for snorkelling. The coral in front of the water villas is dead.
The one spot you can reach on your own is by the seaplane jetty, where coral has been planted and reef sharks come in behind the boats.
The resort runs scheduled snorkelling trips out to the reef, weather and tide permitting, and they are the way to see anything. It also runs weekly coral planting workshops and keeps a Marine Biology Centre on the island.
This is a straightforward trade. You are not buying a house reef here; you are buying what is twenty minutes away in a boat.
The whale sharks are the reason to come
South Ari is, by the resort’s own description, the world’s only year-round whale shark aggregation site. That is the difference between this island and every other one on our list: elsewhere it is a season, here it is a standing possibility.
The trip is three hours on a wooden dhoni with a marine biologist, at USD 155 per adult and USD 73 per child. Minimum age is eight, you must be able to swim, and it is weather dependent and non-refundable inside 72 hours of arrival.
Book it before you fly. The marine protected area caps the boat at eighteen guests with three guides, six guests per guide, and the trip runs on three days a week. Eighteen seats, three days, and a full island: it goes early.
Pregnant guests are not permitted, everyone signs a disclaimer before departure, and the resort's diving is PADI with more than fifty dive sites around the atoll.

What the price is built on
Two adults, four nights, half board, the return seaplane for two, and every Maldivian tax including the green tax. Indian TCS is the one thing outside the figure.
Every combination is two nights in a beach category followed by two over the water. There is no single-villa option in the offer at all.
Ways to pay less
Travel before 6 October, which is the bottom of the range.
Avoid the 23 December to 5 January window entirely. The entry pairing roughly doubles across it.
In January, move from the 6th to the 17th. The same four nights drops by about ₹20,000 for waiting a week.
Priced by hand
Both Family Pavilions, both Temptation villas and the LUX* Villa, none of which is in this offer.
Any stay in one villa throughout, and any length other than four nights.
15 October 2026, which falls between two of the offer’s own pricing windows and is priced by nobody. Ask.
A date that closes
Booking closes on 15 October 2026, and travel on this offer runs to 31 January 2027.
No festive dining supplement is published for these dates even though the offer prices Christmas and New Year. Most Maldivian resorts charge one, so we confirm it in writing before taking a peak deposit.
Things we would rather you heard from us
- The lagoon is sand and the coral by the water villas is dead. We would rather lead with that than have you find it on the first morning. There is planted coral by the seaplane jetty and the boat trips out to the reef are good. If snorkelling from your own steps is the point of the holiday, this is the wrong island and we will name you three better ones.
- Two restaurants are outside every meal plan. Allegria and Umami give you a US$30 credit per person per meal, not the meal. On a four-night stay that is a real line on the folio if you were planning to eat at either, and it is the most common surprise here.
- The whale shark boat has eighteen seats. Three days a week, eighteen guests, six per guide, under marine protected area rules the resort did not write and cannot bend. If the whale sharks are why you are going, the trip has to be booked before you arrive, not on the second morning.
- It is a long island and there is a dress code. Two miles of beach, so you will be on a bicycle, and the resort asks for a cover-up over swimwear by day and elegant dress in the evening. Neither is a problem, but both catch people who packed for a barefoot island.
- The seaplane has no backup here. Some islands have a domestic flight as an alternative when the seaplane stops for the night. This one does not, as far as the resort publishes. Land at Velana after 15:00 and you are paying for a night in the capital.
