Grand Park Kodhipparu
One of the better house reefs you can reach inside twenty minutes of the airport, and you swim to it from the island rather than being taken out by boat. The trade is that Malé sits on the horizon and the flight path is close, so this is not the island to pick if you came for remoteness.

Getting there
The boat is shared, not private. It is scheduled against flight arrivals, so allow a wait at the terminal rather than assuming you step off the aircraft and straight onto it.
Both transfers for two adults already sit inside every figure on this page. Nothing for the boat is added at the resort.

The two 80 sqm water villas have no pool. People book them expecting one. If a pool over the water is what you want, the step is to the 93 sqm Pool Water Villa or Reef Pool Water Villa.
Children under 12 are not recommended in an overwater villa and parents are asked to sign a waiver. With young children the Beach Pool Villa is the answer: same island, private pool, sand at the door.
The resort can move a booking between beach and water categories on availability, and it decides how a split stay is allocated.

Three places to eat
The Edge is the main restaurant, an international buffet with live stations, set by the sea. Breakfast 07:00 to 10:30, lunch 12:30 to 15:30, dinner 19:00 to 22:00. Casual by day, tasteful in the evening, and no swimwear, sleepwear, sports shorts or singlets.
Breeze is the poolside bar and kitchen, Asian, Mediterranean and comfort food, 10:00 to 23:00, resort casual.
Firedoor is the grill: prime steaks and local seafood. Bar from 17:30, restaurant from 18:30, both until 22:30, smart casual. It is the only signature restaurant and it has to be booked before you turn up at the door.
How the plan works
One meal plan covers everyone in the villa. You cannot put one adult on bed and breakfast and the other on all inclusive.
Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is by noon, so on most stays the last lunch is yours to pay for.
We have not yet read the resort’s written list of what the all inclusive plan covers at each venue. We have asked for it. Until it arrives we are not going to tell you that a particular restaurant or a particular drink is inside the plan.
The water
Why we rate it 5 out of 5
Twenty minutes from Malé, and still one of the better reefs inside that range. That pairing is unusual. Reefs this good are normally three hours and a seaplane away.
Soft corals, which are scarcer than people assume, with reef white-tip sharks, eagle rays, turtles, parrotfish, batfish and titan triggerfish among what the resort lists. There are coral nurseries on the island and a resident marine biologist looking after them.
The current will drift you gently along the reef edge, which is the nicest way to swim it.

Getting in, and what it takes
You swim in from the island. There are no boat drop-offs, because there is no need for them. From a Reef Pool Water Villa the drop-off is a few steps from your ladder; from a lagoon villa it is a swim out.
The resident marine biologist runs a guided reef snorkel free of charge, with commentary on what you are looking at. The marine centre also sells a guided 30-minute snorkel, booked a day in advance for a slot between 08:30 and 16:30, at USD 35 per person plus taxes and service. You do not need either one to see the reef.
Diving leaves twice a day: a two-tank morning departure at 08:30 and a single-tank afternoon departure at 14:30.
Swimming and snorkelling ability is required on every guided snorkel, and the resort says so plainly rather than leaving it to be discovered at the jetty.

What the price is built on
Two adults, three nights, the shared speedboat both ways, and every Maldivian tax. Split stays are four nights. Indian TCS is the one thing that sits outside the figure.
Each of you also has a 50-minute spa treatment inside that number, and the stay carries a sunset cruise and a shisha experience.
Ways to pay less
Travel before 1 November. The same villa on the same plan steps up from that date.
Take soft all inclusive rather than full board. The step is small and it covers house beer, house wine and soft drinks at meals.
Look hard at the split stay. Two nights over the lagoon and two on the beach is often better value than three nights in the beach villa on its own.
Priced by hand
The Grand Residence, which the resort prices on four people rather than two.
Festive, 24 December to 10 January. Four nights minimum, its own rates, and a compulsory supplement per person on 31 December.
January to March 2027, and April to September 2027. Both are real and bookable. They are simply not on the dropdown.
A date that closes
Bookings at these prices close on 15 October 2026. The travel dates run far beyond that, so the deadline lands long before the holiday does.
Things we would rather you heard from us
- You can see Malé from the beach. Twenty minutes from the airport buys you a boat at any hour and takes away the middle-of-nowhere feeling. Guests who wanted the second thing do say so afterwards.
- The entry-level water villas have no pool. Eighty square metres, a glass floor panel and steps into the lagoon, and no pool. It is the single most common surprise on this island. If the pool matters, move up to 93 square metres.
- We have not seen the written all-inclusive list. The resort has told us the detail sits in a document and we have asked for it. Until we have read it, we will not tell you which drinks and which restaurants the top plan covers.
- The island is small. Guests call it cosy and uncrowded, which is the same fact told two ways. If a long beach walk is part of your picture of the Maldives, this is not the island for it.
- Excursions need planning, not spontaneity. Most run with a minimum of two guests, and the dolphin, stingray and shark trips need four. Shark snorkelling has a minimum age of 12 in the water, though younger children can watch from the boat. Children under three go free and under-twelves pay half. Book before you fly.
