A strip of sand in Lhaviyani Atoll about 2 km long and only 90 m wide, with one unbroken beach running its length and 162 villas along it. It is 35 minutes from Velana by seaplane, and the all-inclusive plan is unusually generous. The catch is plain: there is no reef you can swim to from the beach, so the snorkelling happens from free boats twice a day. Everything worth knowing before you decide, in one page.

Location and transfers
Land at Velana by 15:45. A later landing, or any night arrival, means a night in Malé at your own expense. Send us your flight times and we will check the connection both ways.

The overwater villas do not change the snorkelling. Even from their steps, the reef is reached by boat, so choose them for the view.
Every one-bedroom villa takes a family of four. Two adults and two children, or three adults and a child. A third adult adds a lot to the price, so ask us to price the two-bedroom villa alongside.
Sizes are the resort's total area, including terraces and gardens.

Four nights is the gate
The spa treatment, the fine-dining dinner and the excursions start at four nights. Three nights can be booked but carries a supplement, so each night comes to more and you get less.

A strong pick for vegetarians
Just Veg is a full vegetarian restaurant, and the Lantern Bar serves vegetarian tapas. Tell us about Jain or other needs when you book and we will pass them on.
The water
No reef from the beach
There is a reef, but it sits at a steep drop-off with rough water over it, so it is reached by boat rather than swum to, and that holds from every villa, including the overwater ones. What you get instead is unlimited free snorkelling, two boat trips a day to seven nearby sites when the weather allows, with turtles and reef sharks commonly seen. Guests rate the team running those boats very highly. We score the house reef 2 out of 5.
Water sports and diving
Windsurfing, a catamaran, canoes and paddleboards are free, after a competence check for the catamaran and windsurf. Certified divers get a discount on their first two dives.
Children and safety
Families
Every one-bedroom villa takes two adults and two children. Children from two are charged, though the resort sometimes runs offers that let two children under 12 stay free in the Grand Pool Villa and the Residence. Tell us the ages and we will price the options side by side.

On the island
Essens Spa, with a body scrub once per adult on the plan. A gym, a floodlit tennis court, paddle tennis, futsal, sunrise and sunset yoga, aqua aerobics and Pilates. DJ nights, live music, karaoke and movie nights.
A long, narrow island
About 2 km end to end and only 90 m across, so every villa is close to the water and the beach never runs out.
