A wonder

We spent a week in this paradise. Spacious and very clean rooms, varied and abundant buffet, special staff. Everyone, but really everyone, from the resort manager, to the waiters, bartenders, chefs, reception staff, spa staff, really very kind and helpful. A special week. Thanks to all the staff at this paradise.

Paradise

I can only say paradise….. Everything was simply perfect! Highly recommend to couples, families… The heavenly sea… From the food, to the rooms, to the cocktails. The bartender Thialak and another waiter were exceptional. My husband and son went to play soccer on the small field with the resort waiters every day and had a lot of fun. Humble and professional — TOP involvement! We will DEFINITELY be back!!!

Dhigufaru Island Resort

Regular price₹ 289,300
/
Double occupancy, 3 nights, return seaplane or domestic transfers, all taxes included except TCS · 11 Jan to 21 Dec 2027

Dhigufaru sits inside the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the same water as Milaidhoo, Amilla and Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, at a fraction of their price. Hanifaru Bay, where the manta aggregations happen between roughly June and November, is a boat ride away.

Three nights in a Sunrise Beach Villa on bed and breakfast in green season comes to ₹232,200 for two, all in from Malé. That is the cheapest way onto a Baa Atoll island we sell.

What this actually costs

Every price above is the total for two adults for three nights: the villa, the meal plan, return transfers for two, green tax and every other tax. International flights are not included. Extra nights are quotable and cheaper per night, because the transfer is already paid.

  • The two high seasons price identically. January to April and October to December are the same number, so there is no reason to prefer one on cost. Green season saves about ₹57,000 on any villa on any plan, because the transfer and tax component is fixed.
  • Bed and breakfast to all inclusive is about ₹145,000 a couple, roughly ₹24,000 a day for two. All inclusive covers draught beer, house wine, house spirits and cocktails, which is close to what two people spend at the bar anyway.
  • Half board is usually the right call. It adds the dinner buffet and 30% off the food bill at Athiri Grill and Muraka, which is what opens the two à la carte rooms at a sensible price. Full board keeps that discount and adds lunch.

Not on the dropdown: the Two Bedroom Family Beach Villa and the Sangu Suite, both priced on a different occupancy basis, and travel before 11 January 2027. Ask and we will quote them.

Who this isn’t for

Anyone expecting the polish of its Baa Atoll neighbours. This is a comfortable, well-run island, not Milaidhoo or Kihavah, and the buffet is the centre of the food offer rather than the exception. No meal plan covers in-room dining; room service is charged in full.

The water villas take two adults and one child, and the resort asks a parent to sign a disclaimer for children in overwater rooms. And 22 December 2027 to 9 January 2028 is not sold here: four nights minimum, seven between 27 December and 3 January, plus compulsory gala dinners at USD 299 per adult on Christmas Eve and USD 399 on New Year’s Eve.

Before you book

  • Your arrival time picks your transfer. Land at Malé between 06:00 and 15:30 and you fly the 40-minute seaplane. Land later and you take a 20-minute domestic flight to Dharavandhoo plus a 30-minute speedboat. Both cost the same and both are inside every price.
  • Early bird is 10% off at 90 days ahead, 15% at 120. It stacks with the honeymoon, celebration and family offers, but not with long stay or returning guest.
  • Family escape puts one child under 12 free in any category and two free in the beach villas, Semi Water Villa and Pool Beach Villa. Green tax and the child transfer still apply.
  • Honeymoon benefits need four nights on half board or above, so add a night if you are celebrating. Long stay is 10 nights for 9, or 14 for 12.

Tell us your dates, your villa and your party, and we will come back with a transfer-inclusive costing and the best legitimate combination of offers rather than the first one that fits. Message our Maldives specialists on WhatsApp or send us an enquiry.

Getting there

Route Seaplane
Journey 40 min, airport to island
Last arrival that works 15:30

Land at Velana after 15:30 and the last transfer of the day will have gone, which means a night in Malé before you reach the island.

There is a second way in. Domestic flight to Dharavandhoo + speedboat, about 50 min, for arrivals at Velana up to 16:20.

The domestic flight option is an evening service.

A day here, honestly

The reef sets the shape of your day here, and so does the atoll it sits in. Baa is a UNESCO biosphere reserve and Dhigufaru is one of the few islands we sell where the house reef is genuinely a reason to book rather than a footnote.

  • Getting here Seaplane, 40 min · latest Velana arrival 15:30
  • Alternative Domestic flight to Dharavandhoo + speedboat, 50 min · cut-off 16:20
  • Highest plan sold All-inclusive
  • House reef 4 of 5

Day 1, arriving

Two routes, and the second is more useful than most guests realise. A seaplane of around forty minutes, daylight only, with a 15:30 cut-off at Velana. Or a domestic flight to Dharavandhoo plus a speedboat, about fifty minutes, which runs as an evening service and accepts arrivals as late as 16:20. Both cost the same, so which one you get depends entirely on when your flight lands rather than on what you pay. Send us your times and we will tell you which one you are on before you book.

Do these three things when you land.

  • Ask where the reef drops off. This is one of the stronger house reefs in our catalogue and it deserves a proper first morning.
  • Check the season if Hanifaru Bay matters to you. It is the reason many guests choose Baa, and it does not run all year.
  • Read what your meal plan covers before the first dinner rather than after it.

Days 2 to 3, your full days

Mornings

A strong house reef, with an access note worth reading before you plan a morning around it.

A strong house reef, which is what the island is built around and what the Baa Atoll location delivers. This is one of the resorts where planning your mornings around the water rather than around a boat schedule actually works.

Snorkellers
Go from the island. This is the point of Dhigufaru and it is why the reef carries a 4 in our grading.
Divers
Baa's sites are the draw, and in season Hanifaru Bay is the one everybody comes for. Book it through the dive centre early.
Families
A calm island with a real reef, which is a better combination for confident children than a big resort with a lagoon.

Afternoons

Baa Atoll gives this island more to do on the water than most, and Hanifaru Bay is the headline in season. We are asking the resort for the current excursion schedule, prices and minimum numbers rather than publishing a guess, because the manta trips in particular run to conditions rather than to a fixed timetable.

Evenings

Bed and breakfast, half board, full board and all-inclusive are all sold. Be careful with the all-inclusive here: we grade it 2 out of 5, our second-lowest band, so on this island the plan is worth reading rather than assuming. The rate already carries service charge and GST.

Day 4, leaving

The seaplane is daylight only, so an early flight home may push you onto the domestic route or cost you a night. The Dharavandhoo option is the more forgiving of the two at both ends.

What you will still pay

Diving is the main one, and in Baa that is where the money goes rather than on food. Then the spa, the excursions, and whatever your meal plan does not cover, which on the all-inclusive here is more than the name suggests.

Who this island's day does not suit

Anyone who wants a large island with a lot going on. This is a quiet resort whose argument is the water, and if the reef is not why you are coming, the money is better spent elsewhere.

Tell us your flight times and we will check this against your actual dates.Ask on WhatsApp
