This is a truly lovely medium sized island/resort, and as good as it gets I would say, if you are looking for barefoot luxury with a very personalised approach. The hosts are delightfully friendly and engaged. Our butler, Miffi, produced some wonderful surprises for an anniversary we had. The over water villas are unusually generously proportioned and diving/snorkelling in the areas is very good. The main dining area has a long stretch of beach and offers one of the most memorable dining environments I can recall. The food experience is also as good as I have enjoyed in Asia generally. There are twice daily complimentary cultural experiences of about 45 minutes each allowing you to get to know the staff and the local traditions. I would highly recommend this for a two centre Maldives holiday. Its proximity to Male lends itself beautifully to this. If you like high end boutique hotel experiences, you will probably really enjoy Gili.
An absolutely incredible stay! Gili Lankanfushi is a true little corner of paradise. From the moment we arrived, we were able to completely disconnect: zero mental load, everything is thought out so that we can fully enjoy every moment. The staff is extremely kind, always smiling, attentive, and caring, with impeccable service. The island is perfectly maintained, of exceptional beauty, and the infrastructure is remarkably integrated into this preserved environment. As for the sea... it is simply an open-air aquarium! The water is crystal clear, marine life is omnipresent, and every swim is a spectacle. Everything was perfect, from beginning to end. We are leaving with unforgettable memories and only one desire: to return one day.
The Resort is excellent in everything — from the location, the sea, the rooms that offer all the comforts, to the quality of the services: catering, from the Spa to the diving center. The staff always cordial and available. A unique experience that stays in your heart.
The room was great, managing room and our schedules were also great. Foods were always delicious, and everywhere we could stay with warm, kind, nice environment.
You will enjoy it. You would not cross an atoll for it.
The reef here is average by Maldives standards and the resort does not really trade on it. The coral is largely bleached and the good snorkelling is on excursions. There is a drop-off at around fifteen metres off the reef edge with coral walls, small sharks, turtles and rays, and the stretch between the two palm islets is the best of it. The jetties differ: guests report one is a short swim from the reef while another is shallow and safer with children, and rays and sharks are visible from the shore there. Ask us and we will check which jetty you are being quoted. Visibility is best in the middle of the day.
Transfers run around the clock, so a late landing does not cost you a night in Malé.
Shared speedboat, running day and night, so any arrival time connects. Boats are scheduled rather than private, so allow a wait at Velana.
