The position is the strongest thing here. The island sits between two channels in a protected marine area, and Fushifaru Thila is a manta cleaning station a short boat ride out. Off the beach it is more mixed: a wide lagoon, a long way to the drop-off, and coral that was badly damaged and is being seeded back. Plenty of fish, turtles and sharks. Come for the channel diving and the mantas, not for coral gardens off your steps.
Getting there
Land at Velana after 15:00 and the last seaplane of the day will have gone, which means a night in Malé before you reach the island.
Shared seaplane, daylight only. Land at Velana in the evening and you spend a night in Malé first, so send us your flights and we will check the connection before you book.

Fushifaru in Lhaviyani felt like an intimate, pocket-sized sanctuary when we visited in 2019. The island is tiny, so you can walk barefoot from morning coffee by the lagoon straight onto the sand in three minutes. About the resort
Fushifaru Maldives sits beside Fushifaru Kan'du, a Marine Protected Area on the north-eastern edge of Lhaviyani Atoll. Fushifaru Thila, a cleaning station where manta rays gather, is a short boat ride out, and it is the reason divers choose this island.
It is a small resort, 35 minutes from Velana by seaplane, with one all-day restaurant, a beach grill, a teppanyaki counter and two bars. Sunrise villas face the open ocean, sunset villas the calm lagoon, and the water villas sit over the channel.
What you pay
Fushifaru Maldives is priced on request. Send us your dates and we will price the whole stay for two as one figure: your villa, the meal plan, the return seaplane and every tax.
We price it on half board: breakfast and dinner at Korakali and Raakani, with a US$40 credit towards the à la carte dinner menu. The whole stay has to be on one plan.
Nine villa types, three choices. Beach or water, pool or no pool, sunrise or sunset. The Beach Villa and Pool Beach Villa come in both a sunrise and a sunset version. Over the water, the Jacuzzi Water Villa, Pool Water Villa and Premium Pool Water Villa each sleep three adults. The Beach Duplex Villa and Premium Beach Duplex Villa are the only villas with two bedrooms.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your villa, breakfast and dinner on half board, the return seaplane, and every Maldivian tax including green tax. Every villa has a personal Resident Host.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, lunch and drinks on half board, teppanyaki, spa, diving and excursions, dinners on a sandbank or in your villa, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Anyone who wants a choice of restaurants. Korakali, Raakani, the teppanyaki counter and two bars are the island. Korakali changes its theme each evening, but a week here is a week at the same few tables.
Snorkellers who want coral off the beach. The lagoon is wide, the drop-off is a long swim out, and the coral was badly damaged and is being seeded back. Fish, turtles and sharks are plentiful. Come for the channel and the mantas.
Late arrivals and short trips. The seaplane flies in daylight only, so land at Velana by 15:00 or the first night is in Malé. There is a domestic flight and speedboat route too, but it leaves Malé too early in the day to rescue a late arrival. Under four nights, the transfer takes too much of the trip.
Before you book
Choose the side before the size. Sunrise villas look east across Maakandu, the open ocean. Sunset villas look west over Etherevari, the calm lagoon. The water villas face Kanduolhi, the channel, which is where divers want to be.
Families should ask early. Only the two duplex villa types give a family two separate bedrooms, and there are very few of them. The Kokko Kids Club runs activities for younger guests.

Underwater restaurant
BUBBLE
Fushifaru Maldives has no underwater restaurant of its own, but its new sister resort does. BUBBLE sits six metres under the lagoon at Meyyafushi Maldives, a short boat ride away in the same atoll, and Fushifaru Maldives guests can book it. Wide windows look out on to coral, reef fish and nurse sharks, under a ceiling hung like a coral reef.
It serves breakfast as well as lunch and dinner, and the menus include vegetarian and Jain dishes. Children aged 6 to 12 are welcome at breakfast and lunch, and dinner is for over-12s. BUBBLE is charged on top of your meal plan. Ask us before you travel and we will check a table and the boat across for your dates.
