Standard Room
Ruka Maldives · Dhiffushi, North Malé Atoll
The last speedboat of the day leaves at 21:30. Allow an hour to clear the airport, so land well before then or plan a night in Malé before you reach the island.
A shared speedboat on a timetable, not a private boat. Three boats leave the airport every day, the last at 22:15. Tell us when you land and we will match you to a boat.

Ruka Maldives Dhiffushi stands on an island where Maldivians live and work, so the island's rules apply to everyone staying there.
No alcohol. It is not sold or served anywhere on an inhabited island. Swimwear on the tourist beach. In the village, cover shoulders and knees. Friday is the day off. Shops close for prayers and fewer boats run, so check your transfer times if you arrive or leave on a Friday.
Ask us about any of this before you book. We would rather you knew now than on the jetty.
Ruka Maldives is an 18-room guest house on Dhiffushi, an inhabited island in North Malé Atoll about 45 minutes from the airport by shared speedboat. Every price includes the room, breakfast or half board, the return speedboat and every tax, green tax included.
Ruka Maldives is a small white building on the island's main street, with a balcony on every room, a coffee bar inside and an open-air courtyard for breakfast and barbecue dinners. It suits couples and friends who want a clean, simple base for a few days of snorkelling and sandbank trips at a local-island price.
The Standard Room is the cheapest. The Deluxe Room is a little larger and adds a few thousand rupees to a three-night stay. The Premium Room has a king bed and comes to about a fifth to a third more than the Standard, depending on the season.
The Premium Room with Bathtub is the largest, with a king and a single bed. It is the one to choose for three people travelling together.
Half board adds dinner and puts about a fifth to a quarter on the stay. Lunch can be added on the island.
The Christmas and New Year fortnight is the dearest stretch, about two fifths above the quietest weeks, and the dry season after it sits in between. Pick your dates above; a stay that runs across two seasons comes through to us with the dates already filled in.
In the price: your room for the nights you pick, breakfast daily and dinner too on half board, the return shared speedboat between the airport and Ruka Maldives, the green tax and every Maldivian tax. Every room has air conditioning, a balcony, a TV, Wi-Fi, a mini fridge and tea and coffee things.
Not in the price: lunch, excursions and water sports, your international flights, travel insurance, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Anyone who wants a drink. Ruka Maldives is on an inhabited island and no alcohol is served there. Dress modestly in the village and away from any beach set aside for swimwear.
Anyone who wants space or a sea view. The rooms are compact, about 10 to 14 square metres, and they look over the island rather than the water. This is a place to sleep between days on the beach and the boat.
Anyone planning to hop between guest-house islands. Ruka Maldives on Dhiffushi sits north of the airport, away from the Maafushi and Gulhi cluster in South Malé Atoll.
The shared speedboat runs to a timetable, not to your flight, and the crossing takes 45 to 50 minutes. Three boats leave for Dhiffushi every day. The first is at 11:30 from Saturday to Thursday and at 08:30 on Fridays, and the last is at 22:15, so a flight landing after about 21:30 means a night near the airport. Going home, the last boat leaves Dhiffushi at 17:45. Tell us when you land and we will match you to a boat.
Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at 12:00. A later check-out can be arranged if the room is free, charged by the hour. Dinner is served from 20:00 to 21:30.
Children under two stay free. The Standard and Deluxe rooms take one child with two adults, and both Premium rooms take two.
Excursions from the island include snorkelling trips to see turtles, sharks and stingrays, sandbank trips, sunset dolphin cruises, fishing and diving. Ask us to add any of them when we price the stay.
