It's great!

Great hotel! The island is very green, twice a day it is cultivated for mosquitoes, so in 13 days of stay we hardly met them. Excellent room service — special thanks to ASHFAAN for the wonderful towel figures every day! Great reception, thank you to Buck for her attention and willingness to solve any problem! The food and restaurants are just great — varied, very delicious, the cooking is super! Excellent service at restaurants, especially MAUCH! The beach is cleaned all the time, the ocean entry is very good. Special thanks to SYMON for the beach service.

A beautiful property with awesome staff

Le Méridien is a stunning property, just a 30-minute seaplane ride from Malé airport. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and guided us to the lounge. The overwater villa was truly amazing — stargazing at night and morning swims were special highlights. Room service kept everything spotless, no noise at all, and fantastic value. Special thanks to Curator/Chef Pradeep, Photographer/Staff Simon, and all the restaurant staff who went out of their way to make our stay special.

Relaxed with my daughter for 10 days. Overall a great island — delicious and varied food, lots of fruit and delicious desserts. Nice rooms, great room service. Kids Club

Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa is 35 minutes north of Velana by seaplane, in Lhaviyani Atoll, and it prices its overwater villas only a little above its beach villas. Here the lagoon is a small step, not a splurge.

It is a mid-size island with plenty going on: seven places to eat and drink, a kids' club that runs daily, a dive centre and a padel court. The resort takes its footprint seriously. Solar panels cover about 40% of daytime power, and The Greenhouse, a 430 m² hydroponic farm, grows produce on the island.

A resident marine biologist runs the Marine Conservation Hub, with guided coral snorkels, a seagrass session and a sunset dolphin cruise.

What you pay

Pick your dates and a villa and the price is the whole stay for two: the villa, breakfast and dinner daily, the return seaplane, and every Maldivian tax, green tax included.

October is the last month at the lower price. Three nights in a Beach Villa in October are ₹384,100. From 1 November the same stay is ₹408,800, and that price holds right through to October 2027, apart from Christmas and New Year. There is no cheaper summer to wait for.

Going over the water adds ₹15,400 on those three nights from November, from a Beach Villa to a Sunrise Overwater Villa. The Sunset Overwater Villa adds the same again.

A private pool is the real jump. From November a Beach Villa with Garden Pool is about a tenth more than a Beach Villa, and a Beach Villa with Pool or an Overwater Villa with Pool about a third more. Four adults pay less in two Beach Villas than in a 2 Bedroom Beach Villa with Pool. Take the bigger villa to be under one roof.

What's included, and what isn't

In the price: your villa for two, breakfast and dinner every day, the return shared seaplane, and every Maldivian tax including green tax. Up to two children under twelve stay and eat free in your villa, on your meal plan.

Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, lunch, drinks, the spa, diving and excursions, your children's seaplane and green tax, the compulsory New Year's Eve gala, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.

Who this isn't for

Anyone landing at Velana late in the afternoon. The seaplane flies in daylight only, and you must be checked in at the seaplane counter by 15:30. Land later and you spend a night in Malé first.

Couples after a hideaway. With 134 villas and a busy programme, this island is sociable, not secluded.

Families with three children. Only two children stay free in any villa. A third is charged for every night.

Before you book

24 December to 10 January is not priced on this page. The New Year's Eve gala dinner is compulsory and charged on top, and stays touching 27 December to 3 January need five nights. We can still book it.

Cancellation is all or nothing. The whole stay is charged if you cancel inside 30 days of arrival for most dates, 45 days over Christmas and New Year, and 14 days from mid-May to September 2027. Changing dates or shortening the stay counts as a cancellation, so buy travel insurance when you book.

There is only one 3 Bedroom Thilamaafushi Beach Villa. It is booked on request, so ask us early.

House reef 4/5 Strong

Worth choosing the resort for. One or two caveats on entry point or current.

Strong marine life here, but the reef is a swim rather than a step. From the beach it is roughly 150 metres out and often on the far side from your villa, while the Overwater Sunrise Villas put you onto it by ladder, which is the category worth paying for. Guests report blacktips, turtles, eagle rays, porcupine rays and an unusual number of octopus in shallow water. Follow the marked buoys and stop at the last one, because beyond it is the seaplane channel. Current runs hard at high tide off the overwater villas, and the sunrise side is the calmer choice.
