Which villa you book decides this one. The reef runs along the ocean side, parallel to the overwater villas, with direct entry off the deck at high tide and the service jetty at low, when there is coral and rock underfoot. The lagoon beach villas face shallow sand that is lovely to swim in and has nothing to snorkel. The best stretches are behind the spa and at the supply pier, where guests report turtles, reef sharks, eagle rays and big schools of fish. Tell us the reef matters and we will make sure you are on the right side of the island.

Land at Velana after 15:30 and the last seaplane of the day will have gone, which means a night in Malé before you reach the island.
Lounge access at the terminal is Trans Maldivian's, not the resort's, and has to be booked in advance.
About the resort
The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives sells two different holidays on this page. On the earlier dates, a package the resort calls the Getaway puts the seaplane, half board, a massage, an excursion and a floating breakfast into one price.
On the later dates the same villa is priced the ordinary way, and it shows: about seventy per cent more for the same five nights in the Water Villa with Pool. If your dates can move, the Getaway is the one to aim for.
The island is in Raa Atoll, forty minutes by seaplane from Velana. Every villa has its own pool, and the house reef is one of the better ones we sell.
What you pay
Pick your dates and a villa and the price is the whole stay on half board, breakfast and dinner daily, with the return seaplane and every Maldivian tax, green tax included. The one-bedroom villas are priced for two adults, the two-bedroom villas and the Residence for four.
The ordinary-rate dates have a lever of their own. Book at least 45 days ahead and the resort takes 20% off the villa. Book 60 days ahead and it takes 25%, which takes a useful slice off the gap. We apply it for you.
It turns on the day you book, so the prices on this page are before it. We apply it. It does not combine with the Getaway.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your villa with its private pool, breakfast and dinner daily, the return seaplane, and every Maldivian tax including green tax. On Getaway dates, also a floating breakfast, a shisha, one excursion and a 45-minute massage for each adult, and two children under twelve stay and eat free.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, lunch, drinks, the seaplane lounge at Velana, a child's seaplane seat and green tax, diving and further excursions, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Anyone landing at Velana after 15:30. The last seaplane connection is for flights landing by 15:30, so a later arrival means a night in Malé first.
Three adults in one villa. The price carries the seaplane for two, so a third adult pays for their own seat, which adds a good deal.
Anyone who wants all inclusive priced in front of them. Every price on this page is half board. Full board and all inclusive are priced on request.
Before you book
Book restaurants and experiences before you fly. Guests reserve through the resort's app, which shows live availability. You can book ahead with your booking confirmation number rather than wait until you arrive with a room number.
The seaplane lounge is not the resort's. It belongs to the seaplane operator and has to be booked in advance.
The festive fortnight is not priced on this page. Four nights is the minimum and nobody can check out on 30 or 31 December or 1 January. The resort has dropped the compulsory Christmas and New Year gala charges. We can still book it.
On the ordinary-rate dates, ask us about the domestic flight. A flight to Dharavandhoo and a speedboat comes in cheaper than the seaplane.

On the dearer dates, book 45 days ahead for 20% off the villa, or 60 days ahead for 25%. Ask us which applies to yours.
Can children stay free at The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives?
On Getaway dates two children under twelve stay and eat free in their parents' villa. A child's seaplane seat and green tax are still charged. Outside those dates, children are not charged for breakfast and dinner. The one-bedroom villas are priced for two adults; the two-bedroom villas and the Residence are priced for four. Tell us the ages of anyone travelling and we will price the whole stay.
What happens at Christmas and New Year?
