House reef
Our rating

There is no house reef here, and we would rather say so. The island is man-made, the sea bed carries a lot of rubble, and snorkelling is done by excursion. What you do get: small coral patches near the water villas, baby sharks patrolling the lagoon edge, and deeper water on the sunrise side you can drop into at high tide. Book this island for the pool, the food and the surf at Chickens Break, which runs May to October. If snorkelling from your steps matters, we will send you elsewhere.

About the resort
Kuda Villingili is thirty minutes from Velana by speedboat and the boat runs around the clock, so there is no arrival cut-off and no night lost in Male. Three nights in a Sunrise Beach Villa with Private Pool on half board is the entry point for two.
Every villa on the island has a pool, the central pool runs 150 metres, and the surf break is at the door. There is no house reef, and we would rather say so on the first screen.
What you pay
Pick a villa and a package above. The figure is the whole stay for two adults: the villa, the meal plan, the return speedboat and every Maldivian tax. Nothing is added at the resort. The single villas are three nights, the split stays two plus two, so four.
The green season is about a fifth cheaper on the same villa. Green season here is surf season, so the cheaper months are the better ones if anyone in the party surfs.
Overwater barely steps up in the green season, and the gap to the beach villas widens in the high season. If the lagoon is the point, book the earlier band.
The split stay is the one to price for a honeymoon. Two nights on the beach and two over the water comes in well under two separate three-night packages in the same villas. Allocation is confirmed the day before arrival.
What’s included, and what isn’t
In the price: the villa, your meal plan, the return speedboat for two, green tax and every other Maldivian tax.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, drinks on half and full board, the spa, excursions, diving, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Half board already carries a credit at Mar-Umi, the Japanese and Peruvian room, so the step to full board buys you lunch rather than a better dinner. All-inclusive adds the drinks package, which runs 14:00 on arrival to 12:00 on departure.
Three nights and up includes a 60-minute massage per adult, a dolphin or sunset cruise, and a photoshoot. All pre-booked, and subject to the weather.
Who this isn’t for
Snorkellers. There is no house reef. The island is man-made and the sea bed carries a lot of rubble, so snorkelling is done by boat rather than off your steps. You get coral patches near the water villas and baby reef sharks at the lagoon edge. If reef swimming is the point of the trip, tell us and we will send you elsewhere.
Anyone wanting quiet from May to October, because that is when the surfers come for Chicken’s Break.
Anyone travelling over the New Year. These prices stop before the festive period, and we quote those dates on request.
Before you book
Children. Up to 11.99 they stay on existing bedding at no occupancy charge and eat free from the kids’ menu. A teenager of 12 to 17.99 carries a nightly rate and an extra adult more. Occupancy varies by category, so ask before putting four in one villa.
Everyone in the party has to be on the same meal plan, and not all the restaurants open every day. Your butler tells you which are on.

What do the meal plans include?
Half board is breakfast and a three-course dinner at SPICE, EAST, EARTH, FIRE or OCEAN, with a USD 60 per adult food credit at MAR-UMI. Full board adds a three-course lunch at The Hawkers (MED, SPICE or EAST) and a USD 40 per adult lunch credit at MAR-UMI. All-inclusive adds the beverage package, which starts at 14:00 on arrival and ends at 12:00 on departure. Not all five restaurants open every day; your butler advises.
What is included at three nights or more?
A 60-minute massage per adult, a dolphin or sunset cruise, a 30-minute photoshoot with one image, snorkelling equipment, welcome amenities, butler service, stand-up paddle and kayak, a 24-hour gym, and a kids' happy hour from 16:00 to 18:00. Subject to availability and pre-booking.
Can children stay?
Children up to 11.99 use existing bedding and pay no occupancy supplement. If two children share, the second gets an extra bed. An infant cot is free. Children below 12 dine free from the kids menu on every plan. Tell us who is travelling and we will put it in the quote.
Is there a minimum stay?
Three nights. The split stays are four, two on the beach and two over the water. Extra nights on a single villa can be added; ask us and we will price them.
Can you price Christmas and New Year?
Not on this page. The prices above stop before the festive period. We price festive dates on request, so tell us what you want and we will come back with a number.
What is not in the price?
Your international flights, travel insurance, the spa, anything outside your meal plan, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Do you mark honeymoons and birthdays?
At three nights or more, a honeymoon or anniversary brings champagne or a non-alcoholic alternative, a cake, a flower bath and one bed decoration. A birthday brings a cake and a surprise. Tell us the occasion when you book.
