Guests report sharks, turtles and rays on most snorkels rather than the odd lucky one, and the free guided snorkel with the resident marine biologist is what repeat visitors mention first. Prodivers runs the dive centre and there is a marine biology centre on the island. The catch is that you cannot get in wherever you like. The island map marks zones where snorkelling and swimming are prohibited, several stretches with strong current and one to snorkel with caution, and wave breakers run along the western beach. Read it on day one and ask the dive team which side is working.

Hurawalhi gets the little things right. I loved the quiet mornings, coffee overlooking the lagoon, and the clear water around the house reef, where you can spot plenty of marine life without going far. The 5.8 Undersea Restaurant is a memorable experience too. The seaplane transfer is not cheap, and the journey adds some logistics. About the resort
Hurawalhi takes nobody under fifteen. It is one resort on its own small island in Lhaviyani Atoll, a 40-minute seaplane from Velana, and it is where you can have dinner 5.8 metres under the lagoon in an all-glass restaurant.
Every price here is the whole stay for two, with the meal plan shown on your package, the return seaplane and every tax included. There is a booking deadline on them, so ask us to confirm it for your dates.
What you pay
Pick your dates and a villa and the price is the whole stay for two: the villa, your meals, the return seaplane and every tax, green tax included. Nothing more is payable at the resort for those.
Most dates come with full board at no extra charge, and 30% off the villa as well. On one stretch in the high season the discount is 25% and the plan is breakfast only. The panel shows which applies to your dates.
The green season is the best value on the island, and full board comes with the villa on those dates.
A private pool is a real step on three nights. The Ocean Villa is 105 m² over the water without one; the Beach Pool Villa is 132 m² on the sand with one. There are only nine Beach Pool Villas against thirty Ocean Pool Villas, so the sand goes first.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your villa for two, the meals shown with your dates, the return seaplane, and every Maldivian tax including green tax.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, drinks outside your meal plan, spa and diving, the compulsory Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve gala dinners, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Anyone travelling with a child. The minimum age is fifteen and it is not negotiable. Also anyone who needs a fourth bed: every villa has one king and takes three adults at most.
Anyone landing late. The seaplane flies in daylight only, so an evening arrival means a night in Malé first, or the domestic flight and boat, which we can arrange. And anyone set on Christmas or New Year: the festive fortnight is not priced on this page, because both gala dinners are compulsory and the resort takes no departures on 31 December.
Before you book
These prices carry a booking deadline, are for new bookings only and cannot be combined with another offer. The resort charges for a minimum of three nights whatever you book.
A third adult is US$326 a night including breakfast. Half board, All Inclusive Plus and stays of four, six or more than seven nights are not priced on this page, but we can book them. The house reef is a real one, with sharks, turtles and rays on most snorkels and a marine biologist on the island.

5.8 Undersea Restaurant
5.8 Undersea Restaurant takes its name from its depth: 5.8 metres under the lagoon at Hurawalhi Maldives. It is one long curved room of glass, and Hurawalhi Maldives calls it the largest all-glass undersea restaurant in the world. Divers replanted coral around it, so the reef outside the glass is busy with fish from lunch to dusk.
Lunch is five courses at 12:00 or 14:00. Dinner is seven courses at a single 18:00 sitting, as the light fades through the water. There are ten tables, and it is a barefoot room with a smart casual dress code. No Hurawalhi Maldives meal plan includes it, so it is charged on top. Frequently asked questions
Where is Hurawalhi Island Resort, and how do you get there?
Hurawalhi sits in Lhaviyani Atoll on its own island, roughly 400 metres by 165 metres. The transfer is a shared seaplane from Velana International Airport, about 40 minutes, and seaplanes fly in daylight only. A domestic flight to Madivaru followed by a boat is available on request and does run at night.
Can children stay at Hurawalhi?
No. Hurawalhi is adults only and accepts guests aged 15 and over. There is no children's programme and no child rate. If someone in your party is under 15, tell us before you get attached to the idea and we will shortlist resorts that will actually take them.
What is the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant?
It is the resort's signature restaurant, glass-walled and set 5.8 metres below the surface of the lagoon. The island's other outlets are Canneli, the all-day restaurant where breakfast is served, Kashibo Restaurant & Bar, Coco Bar, the Games Room and a Champagne Pavilion.
What is the house reef like, and is there diving?
Good, and unusually well evidenced. Guests posting to TripAdvisor describe sharks, turtles and rays on most snorkels straight off the house reef, and the complimentary guided snorkel with the resident marine biologist comes up again and again. The island map also marks prohibited swimming zones, several strong-current areas and one stretch to snorkel with caution, so read it at check-in. Prodivers runs the dive centre. We rate the house reef 4 out of 5.
What meal plans are available at Hurawalhi?
On most dates priced here, full board comes free with the villa: breakfast, lunch and dinner. On one stretch in the high season the price includes breakfast only, and the price panel shows which applies to your dates. Half board and All Inclusive Plus can be added on any date; ask us and we will price them for your stay. Ask us what your plan covers at the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant before you book it.
Is there a minimum stay, and what are the check-in times?
Three nights minimum. Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is at 12:00. Because the seaplane flies in daylight only and the last one out of the resort leaves around 16:00, build your departure day around the seaplane rather than around your flight home.
