Among the best reefs within an hour of Male, and unusual for it. Two or three minutes of rubbly lagoon and you are over sandy floor studded with big coral outcrops running to a drop-off, with turtles most days, nurse sharks and mobula rays. Only a portion of the reef is open to snorkellers; the rest is current or boat lanes, and the team will show you where. Wear something on your feet, the shallow sections near the spa cut people. Overwater ladders are steep.

The last transfer of the day leaves at 02:00, after midnight, so even a very late landing still reaches the island.
Shared speedboat, running late into the night, so an evening arrival still connects. Boats are scheduled rather than private, so allow a wait at Velana.
About the resort
Kagi Maldives Resort & Spa has fifty villas on a small island in North Malé Atoll, an hour from the airport by speedboat. Every villa is 105 m² with its own pool, so you choose by position, not by space.
That makes one fact unusual: the Overwater Pool Villa is the cheapest villa on the island. Three nights for two come with full board, the return speedboat and every tax. There are only five of them, so availability decides it.
What you pay
Pick your dates and a villa and the price is the whole stay for two: the villa, breakfast, lunch and dinner, the return shared speedboat and every tax, green tax included. Nothing more is payable at the resort for those.
Full board comes free with every price, and the villa carries a discount of 30 to 35 per cent depending on the season.
The green season is the best value, and the peak of the dry season is the dearest stretch.
A longer stay spreads the boat. The speedboat is the same on three nights as on seven, so each extra night adds less than the first three.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your villa for two, breakfast, lunch and dinner at Noo Faru with bottled water at meals, the return shared speedboat, and every Maldivian tax including green tax.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, drinks beyond water at meals, the speciality restaurants, spa and diving, the seaplane if you prefer it, the compulsory Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve gala dinners, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Families of four in one villa. Every villa takes three adults, or two adults and one child, so four means two villas.
Anyone who wants a big island and a long list of restaurants. Kagi Maldives is small, and the included meals are all at one restaurant. An hour on a boat is also an hour on a boat. If someone gets seasick, ask us about the seaplane.
Before you book
These prices carry a booking deadline and are for new bookings only. Three nights is the shortest stay.
The boat is the quiet advantage. The last speedboat from Velana leaves as late as 02:00, so a late flight from Delhi or Mumbai still reaches the island the same night.
The festive fortnight is not priced on this page. The gala dinners are compulsory, US$130 per adult on Christmas Eve and US$245 on New Year's Eve, and nobody can check out on 31 December. We can still book it.
Only part of the house reef is open to snorkellers, and the shallows cut feet, so pack reef shoes.

Where is Kagi Maldives?
Kagi sits at the top of North Malé Atoll, 54 km from Velana International Airport. It is a one-island-one-resort property of about 42,000 square metres, with 691 metres of beach and a house reef that wraps the whole island.
How do I get there, and what happens if I land late?
Two routes. A 60-minute speedboat, which runs from the airport until 02:00 and is the reason we send late-arriving clients here. Or a 15-minute seaplane plus a 3 to 5 minute boat, which is daylight only and needs an international arrival between 06:00 and 15:00. Send us your flight and we will tell you which route works.
How many villas are there, and do they all have pools?
Fifty villas in four categories: 5 Overwater Pool Villas, 10 Beach Pool Villas, 18 Lagoon Pool Villas and 17 Ocean Pool Villas. Every one is 105 m² with its own private pool, and every one takes three adults, or two adults and a child. There is no category without a pool.
What meal plan comes with the price?
Full board: breakfast, lunch and dinner at Noo Faru, with bottled water at meals. It comes free on every price on this page, subject to a booking deadline we will confirm for your dates. Half board and Premium All-Inclusive are also sold. Drinks, the speciality restaurants and in-villa dining are charged separately on full board.
What is included in the Premium All-Inclusive package?
A sunset cruise, a selection of premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and dine-around across the restaurants. In-villa dining is available 24 hours but is charged separately whatever plan you are on.
How many restaurants are open on a given night?
Noo Faru serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. The two speciality restaurants alternate: Nonna, the Italian, opens Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and Ke-Un, the Pacific Rim kitchen, opens Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. So any single evening gives you Noo Faru plus one speciality, not a choice of four.
What is the house reef like?
It is one of the best reefs within an hour of Malé. Two or three minutes over rubbly lagoon and you are above sandy floor studded with coral outcrops running to a drop-off, with turtles most days, nurse sharks and mobula rays. Only part of it is open to snorkellers, because the rest is current or boat lane, and the team will show you where. Wear something on your feet: the shallows near the spa cut people. MSTS run the dive centre and offer nitrox and fluorescence night diving alongside beginner courses.
Can I bring children?
Yes, Kagi welcomes guests of all ages. Be clear about what that means though: there is no kids' club, no children's pool and no dedicated family villa. It works for families whose children are happy in a pool and on a reef, and less well if you want somewhere to hand them over in the morning.
