Excellent resort in every respect

Sometimes a few words are enough: this is a very unique place and simply an excellent resort! Meanwhile there are quite a lot of luxurious resorts in the Maldives and everyone we visited so far was great (O&O, Waldorf, Jumeirah, Como and others). But the Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru was our best Maldives experience in more than 20 years. We definitely will go back. It's like a holiday paradise! The spacious villas are top notch and seem newly renovated, the staff is super friendly and the atmosphere on the island is really relaxed. Great dive base and my best diving in the Maldives so far (tons of Manta and we also saw whale sharks twice). Great spa. Excellent food (Blu and our favourite Fuego).

Pure Luxury and Perfection

We just had the most incredible stay at Four Seasons Resort Landaa Giraavaru. From the moment we arrived, the service was VVIP — warm and attentive. We stayed in a 1,600 m² villa and it was absolutely stunning. 4 bedrooms, private pool, direct private beach access, and views that you never get tired of. The cleanliness, the food, the spa, the activities... everything was world-class. 3 days of ultimate luxury, and we left feeling so happy and recharged. It is the most luxurious 3 days of my life so far. A huge thank you to the entire Four Seasons team, especially Ayya and Farey for making this an unforgettable experience.

There are places that you enjoy while you are there, and others that stay with you long after you return home. In Landaa Giraavaru, the tranquility of the ocean set the rhythm for each day. Four Seasons has released its India-market offer at Landaa Giraavaru: 15% off the contracted villa rate and half board for two included, for stays to 20 December 2026. Three nights in a Premier Oceanfront Bungalow with Pool comes to ₹7,10,300 for two, including the return seaplane.

One thing to understand before you read the tables. Unlike the offer at Kuda Huraa, this one does not include the transfer. The shared seaplane is roughly ₹2,43,700 for two people return, and on the entry villa that is 34% of the total. There is a way to make it disappear, and it is further down this page.

What this actually costs

Figures are the total for two adults for the whole stay, not per night. They include the villa, daily breakfast, the half-board dinner upgrade for two, return shared seaplane transfers for two, green tax, service charge and GST. Flights to Malé are not included.

Four things the tables tell you

  • From October, the water villa is free. In the green season the Water Villa with Pool – Partial Sea View costs ₹55,100 more than the Premier Oceanfront Bungalow. From 1 October the two price identically. If your dates are in Q4, do not book the bungalow.
  • Beach and overwater cost the same at the top of the couples range. The Beach Villa with Pool and the Sunset Water Villa with Pool are the same money in both seasons. The choice is purely what you want out of the stay, not what you can afford.
  • The Family Oceanfront Bungalow is the green-season buy and the Q4 trap. To 30 September it undercuts the Beach Villa by ₹1,07,500. From October it costs exactly the same. It carries the steepest seasonal jump on the island at 24%.
  • The seaplane flattens the seasons. Because ₹2,43,700 of every figure above is a fixed transfer cost, the October increase looks small in percentage terms, 7% to 15% on most villas. Do not read that as Landaa being cheap in high season. Look at the rupees, not the ratio.

Book both islands and the seaplane is free

Four Seasons runs an offer called Paradise Twice, valid to 20 December 2026. Three or more nights at Kuda Huraa combined with three or more nights here earns complimentary round-trip seaplane transfers for two.

That removes about ₹2,43,700 from every price on this page. On a three-night Premier Oceanfront Bungalow it takes the stay from ₹7,10,300 to roughly ₹4,66,600. Three nights at Kuda Huraa start at ₹2,61,800. So a six-night, two-island Four Seasons holiday lands close to what three nights at Landaa alone would cost you.

This is the best-value structure either resort offers right now, and it is the one most people never hear about. One caveat we will not paper over: the contract says Paradise Twice combines with the Early Bird offer, and is silent on whether it stacks with this India-market rate. We confirm it with Four Seasons on every enquiry before we quote it.

What is in the price, and what is not

Included: the villa with its private pool, daily breakfast for two (four in the family villas), the complimentary upgrade to half board for two, return shared seaplane transfers for two on Trans Maldivian Airways, green tax, 28.7% combined service charge and GST, premium Wi-Fi, 24-hour in-villa dining, the Marine Discovery Centre, non-motorised water sports, snorkelling gear, gym and tennis.

Not included: flights to Malé, all drinks, lunch, AyurMa treatments, diving and excursions. Half board is food only.

The seaplane in these prices is the shared Trans Maldivian service. Four Seasons also runs its own aircraft, Boxfish and Triggerfish, at a premium. Say the word and we will price those instead.

Full board is available. The contract publishes a half-board and a full-board rate but does not state what a guest already on the complimentary half board pays to move up, so we confirm the upgrade with the resort rather than quoting a number we have inferred.

Which villa, honestly

Premier Oceanfront Bungalow with Pool is the entry point and, in Q4, pointless. The Partial Sea View water villa costs the same. Take it in the green season, when it saves you ₹55,100.

Sunrise or sunset over the water? Sunset costs ₹81,300 more for three nights in the green season. You are buying the evening. The snorkelling is not meaningfully different, because the reef here is not the reason to come.

Families have three genuine options and they are far apart on price. Family Oceanfront Bungalow is the value pick to 30 September. Sunrise Family Water Villa sits in the middle. Family Beach Villa and Sunset Family Water Villa are the top of the range and price identically from October.

The mantas, which are the actual reason to come

Landaa is the headquarters of the Manta Trust's Maldivian Manta Ray Project, and Baa Atoll is the Maldives' only UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Hanifaru Bay, the aggregation site where mantas gather to feed in numbers that do not happen elsewhere, is in this atoll. Season runs with the southwest monsoon, roughly May to November, which is exactly the green-season pricing above.

That is the honest trade on this island: the cheaper half of the year is the better half of the year for what makes it special.

A word on whale sharks. They are in Ari Atoll, not Baa. Anyone promising you whale sharks from a Baa resort is selling you a long boat ride to a different atoll.

The house reef, without the gloss

It is the most modest of the major Baa islands, and much of what is there is the product of the resort's own coral regeneration frames, which have drawn real fish life close to shore. The sunrise side is stomach-deep, fine for children and not much else, and visibility drops when the wind gets up.

Come here for the marine science and the mantas, which are world-class. If snorkelling off your own steps is the point of the trip, say so and we will point you at a different island in this same atoll.

AyurMa

Ayurvedic doctors, naturopaths and yoga therapists build programmes across open-air garden pavilions and overwater treatment rooms. AntiGravity Yoga, Aqua Float and Teresa Tarmey facials. This is a serious wellness operation rather than a spa menu, and it is the other thing Landaa does better than its neighbours.

Dining

Six venues. Blu is beachside Italian, Al Barakat overwater Arabian, Café Landaa covers teppanyaki, Fuego Grill is open-fire, plus Five Degrees North and the poolside bar. Island-grown herbs and vegetables, sustainably sourced seafood.

Families

The Kuda Velaa Kids Club runs painting, crafts, hermit-crab races, beach games and its own yoga. Children under 12 stay free sharing with parents, space permitting. Breakfast is included for four in the family villas rather than two.

Who this isn't for

If the transfer budget is tight, this is the wrong island. ₹2,43,700 of seaplane before you have slept anywhere is the price of Baa Atoll, and unless you are pairing it with Kuda Huraa there is no way around it.

If you want to snorkel off your steps, the reef here will disappoint you and two neighbours in the same atoll will not. If you want nightlife, there is none. And if you are booking December, look at the numbers twice: the same villa costs materially more than it does in manta season, when the diving is better.

Getting there

A 40-minute seaplane from Velana International Airport. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, and the last departure is around 15:00. An evening arrival into Malé means a night in the city before you reach the island, at your cost. Book a morning or early-afternoon flight from India and you keep the resort night you paid for.

Check-in 14:00, check-out 12:00. Stays from 21 December fall outside this offer.

House reef 3/5 Fine

You will enjoy it. You would not cross an atoll for it.

The weakest reef of the big Baa islands, and the neighbours are the reason: Kihavah and Milaidhoo both beat it in the water. What is here is modest and largely the product of the resort own coral regeneration frames, which have pulled in real fish life near the shore. The sunrise side is stomach-deep, good for children and not much else, and visibility goes when the wind gets up. Come here for the Marine Discovery Centre, the turtle rehabilitation and manta-on-call, which are the best in the country, not for snorkelling off your steps.
