Amazing experience!

As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, JW Marriott Maldives stands out as the absolute best property for Marriott Bonvoy point redemptions. We were upgraded to a duplex two-storey overwater villa — perfect for our family of four. Our butlers Malla and Gappe arranged everything flawlessly, including an unforgettable surprise for our son's 18th birthday. The breakfast spread at Aailaa was absolutely phenomenal. Every staff member treats guests like family. We left incredibly reluctant to go.

A stay I'll be thinking about for a long time

I spent 4 nights in a Sunset Beach Pool Villa — one of those trips you keep thinking about weeks later. From the moment I got off the seaplane, everyone knew my name and remembered my food allergy without me mentioning it. Kseniia and Rameez were exceptional butlers. Chef Froosh made Venezuelan-style empanadas for me — one of those emotional moments when you're far from home. The Spa was a highlight too. Stunning resort, incredible villas, great food, and service that actually feels personal.

The main restaurant tasted fine with a wide variety of dishes. The gym faces the sea and the Spa environment is excellent — great service with ocean views. The house reef had plenty of fish visible from the restaurant deck, including baby sharks at breakfast. The overwater villa views were spectacular. A memorable Maldives experience overall.

One of the largest kids' clubs in the Maldives, open daily for ages 0–12. Centred on a 13-metre pirate ship, the club offers treasure hunts, pizza making, snorkelling, arts and science experiments. A Teen Lounge and babysitting service are also available. Children under 12 stay free.

Getting There

A scenic 55-minute seaplane journey with Trans Maldivian Airways connects Velana International Airport (Malé) to Vagaru Island — approximately 192 km across the Indian Ocean. A resort Welcome Ambassador escorts guests through seaplane check-in. Advance reservations are required; seaplanes operate in daylight hours only.

Sustainability

Green Globe Certified. The on-island JW Garden supplies restaurants with fresh produce daily, a resident marine biologist manages an active coral-reef restoration programme, and guest-room recycling operates island-wide. Shaviyani Atoll's reefs remain largely untouched by bleaching that has affected more heavily trafficked northern atolls.
