We had an amazing visit to The Standard. The service was impeccable, the food was wonderful, and we especially appreciated their commitment to sustainability and not allowing any single use plastic throughout the entire property. My husband and son rented a JetSki and had a great time out in the open water. We snorkeled, swam, sunbathed, and had a very relaxing and enjoyable time!
The Standard Maldives was my favourite resort during my journey through five different resorts in the Maldives. What makes this place truly special is not only its beautiful turquoise lagoon, stylish villas, delicious food, or fun atmosphere — it is the people. From the very first moment, I felt that the entire team genuinely enjoys what they do. There is a feeling of warmth, kindness, and love that is difficult to describe but impossible not to notice. It feels like one big family, and that energy spreads naturally throughout the whole island and reaches every guest. The lagoon is breathtaking, the beach is beautiful, and there are plenty of activities during the day and evening. I left with wonderful memories and sincerely hope to come back one day.
The experience was great, the Sherry butler was very attentive, service was attentive, any problems could be solved and honeymoon arrangements were thoughtful.
We had an incredible experience at The Standard, Maldives, and it exceeded all expectations — especially since this was our second visit. As repeat guests, we were touched that the staff remembered us and welcomed us back with such warmth and genuine hospitality. A special thank you to Shamaau and Sahulaan, who were absolutely wonderful throughout our stay. The rooms were spotless, with housekeeping coming through twice a day. The food was outstanding, with such a wide variety to choose from. The water is impossibly clear, blue, and serene. Being remembered and welcomed back like family is what truly sets this resort apart. We'll definitely be returning for a third visit.
Worth choosing the resort for. One or two caveats on entry point or current.
Which villa you book decides this one. The reef runs along the ocean side, parallel to the overwater villas, with direct entry off the deck at high tide and the service jetty at low, when there is coral and rock underfoot. The lagoon beach villas face shallow sand that is lovely to swim in and has nothing to snorkel. The best stretches are behind the spa and at the supply pier, where guests report turtles, reef sharks, eagle rays and big schools of fish. Tell us the reef matters and we will make sure you are on the right side of the island.
Land at Velana after 15:30 and the last transfer of the day will have gone, which means a night in Malé before you reach the island.
There is a second way in. Domestic flight to Dharavandhoo + speedboat, about 45 min.
Lounge access at the terminal is Trans Maldivian's, not the resort's, and has to be booked in advance.
