Paradise in the Maldives

I stayed at this splendid property about 30 minutes by speedboat from Malé, and having been to the Maldives 15 times, this resort is at the top of my favorites... everything was perfect!! Super new property, beautiful room, high-level à la carte restaurant, super kind and helpful staff, perfect cleanliness, wonderful lagoons. I hope to return soon.

Unforgettable diving!

This was my second visit, and this hotel is so perfect! Especially once again it was an unforgettable diving experience. We saw eagle rays, sharks, many sea turtles, Napoleon wrasse, stingrays, and dogtooth tuna, while countless colorful tropical fish decorated the reefs. Not only were the dive instructors highly professional and kind, but the boat crew was also incredibly kind and attentive. In my opinion, this resort offers the best collection of dive sites I have experienced.

One in a million

Our 3rd time to Cocoa Island and wow this place is so special. The short boat ride from the airport and you arrive in paradise! Definition of understated luxury. Water villas are fantastic — windows on all walls give you fantastic views. The main thing that makes Cocoa Island is the staff. All were just brilliant, from our butler, bar and restaurant staff, housekeeping and the dive staff. Insider tip: Just book it!!

COMO Cocoa Island is a 40-minute speedboat from the airport, and the boat runs day and night, so a late landing from India still reaches the island the same night. Every villa stands over the lagoon, and the house reef starts at your own steps.

Three nights for two in a Dhoni Water Villa from October to 19 December, with half board, the return speedboat and every tax, comes to ₹493,100.

What you pay

Pick your dates and a villa and the price is the whole stay: the villa, breakfast and a three-course lunch or dinner each day, the return shared speedboat and every tax, green tax included. The two multi-bedroom villas are priced for four and six.

Booking early takes a real amount off. Book 90 days or more before you arrive and COMO takes 25% off the villa, 45 to 89 days 20%, and 14 to 44 days 15%. It depends on the day you book, not the day you travel, so it is not priced on this page. We apply it. On three nights in a Dhoni Water Villa, 25% is about ₹103,500.

Full board and the drinks package can be added per adult per night: US$60 and US$140. A third guest aged 12 or over is US$250 a night.

What's included, and what isn't

In the price: your villa, the half board plan, the return shared speedboat, the minibar selection and bottled water, COMO Shambhala with its steam room, hydrotherapy pool and gym, snorkel gear, and every Maldivian tax including green tax.

Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, drinks, spa treatments, excursions, the compulsory New Year's Eve dinner, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.

Who this isn't for

Anyone who wants sand outside the door. Every villa is over the water, and only the One Bedroom Water Villa with Pool and the two multi-bedroom villas have a private pool.

Larger families. The Dhoni Water Villa sleeps three and the rest sleep four. There is one Sunrise and one Sunset villa on the island, so ask early. From roughly March to October the surf crowd arrives.

Before you book

Full payment is due 14 days before arrival. Half the stay is charged from 14 days out and all of it from seven. Late arrivals, no-shows and early departures are charged in full.

20 December to 5 January is not priced on this page. The plan drops to breakfast only and the New Year's Eve dinner is US$500 per adult and compulsory.

Two children under 12 stay free in their parents' villa on the same meal plan. You can also pair COMO Cocoa Island with COMO Maalifushi on one trip until 20 December: boat down, seaplane across, seaplane home.

House reef 4/5 Strong

Worth choosing the resort for. One or two caveats on entry point or current.

Every villa here is overwater, so you go down your own steps, cross a short lagoon and you are on the drop-off. There are three separate reef areas and they suit different levels of confidence, which is genuinely useful for a mixed group. Turtles, blacktips, nurse sharks and rays are all regular, and the guided reef snorkel with the marine biologist is included, runs an hour and is worth booking a day ahead. Coral is recovering rather than pristine. One honest warning: construction at neighbouring islands has been audible underwater, so ask us what conditions are like for your dates.
