Paradise in the Maldives

I stayed at this splendid property about 30 minutes by speedboat from Malé, and having been to the Maldives 15 times, this resort is at the top of my favorites... everything was perfect!! Super new property, beautiful room, high-level à la carte restaurant, super kind and helpful staff, perfect cleanliness, wonderful lagoons. I hope to return soon.

Unforgettable diving!

This was my second visit, and this hotel is so perfect! Especially once again it was an unforgettable diving experience. We saw eagle rays, sharks, many sea turtles, Napoleon wrasse, stingrays, and dogtooth tuna, while countless colorful tropical fish decorated the reefs. Not only were the dive instructors highly professional and kind, but the boat crew was also incredibly kind and attentive. In my opinion, this resort offers the best collection of dive sites I have experienced.

One in a million

Our 3rd time to Cocoa Island and wow this place is so special. The short boat ride from the airport and you arrive in paradise! Definition of understated luxury. Water villas are fantastic — windows on all walls give you fantastic views. The main thing that makes Cocoa Island is the staff. All were just brilliant, from our butler, bar and restaurant staff, housekeeping and the dive staff. Insider tip: Just book it!!

COMO Cocoa Island has released its India-market package for stays to 19 December 2026. It is a three-night base on breakfast plus a three-course lunch or dinner for two, with return shared speedboat transfers, a 60-minute COMO Shambhala massage and a beach dinner under the stars all inside the rate. Three nights in a Dhoni Water Villa comes to ₹3,18,000 for two people, all in from Malé.

Pick your villa, then pick your length of stay and dates. Four, five and six nights are priced from the resort's own extra-night rate.

What this actually costs

Every figure is the total for two adults for the whole stay, including the villa, the meal plan, return shared speedboat transfers for two, the 10% service charge, government taxes and green tax. International flights are not included.

Two things worth reading off those. Travelling before 30 September saves about ₹60,000 on the entry villa against October onwards, and the gap narrows as you go up the range — only about ₹21,000 on the One Bedroom Villa with Pool. And the step between villa categories is small in the green season and smaller still in shoulder: from the Dhoni Water Villa to the Loft Water Villa is ₹37,100 in May–September but only ₹17,300 in October–December. If you want the loft, book the later window.

Upgrading to full board is USD 360 per stay for two adults, or USD 120 per night — roughly ₹37,000 on a three-night stay. Not available for children.

What the rate includes

  • Return shared speedboat transfers for two. Cocoa Island is a 40-minute boat from Velana and the boat runs around the clock, so a late arrival from India does not cost you a night.

  • One beach dinner under the stars during the stay, set up for maximum villa occupancy.
  • 10% service charge, government taxes and green tax for all guests.

Honeymoons and anniversaries stack

Unusually for a package of this kind, this rate is combinable with COMO's honeymoon and anniversary amenities. Most India packages make you choose between the package benefits and the celebration extras; this one does not. Tell us you are celebrating when you book and we will have both attached.

The villas, and which one to take

Every category here is over the water. The Dhoni Water Villa is shaped after a Maldivian dhoni and is the entry room. The Dhoni Loft and Loft Water Villa add an upper level and more space. The One Bedroom Villa with Pool is the only category with a private pool.

Maximum occupancy is four people using one extra bed and one day bed. An infant under two is complimentary and pays no speedboat or green tax. A child aged 2 to 11.99 sharing with parents takes the same meal plan as the parents, applicable on the children's menu.

The house reef

Cocoa Island sits on a long sandbank in South Malé Atoll with a reef that suits snorkellers who like getting in from their own steps rather than a boat. It is also within reach of some of the best-known surf breaks in the country, which is why the island draws a surf crowd between roughly March and October.

Who this isn't for

Families who need connecting rooms or a kids' club — Cocoa Island is small, quiet and built around couples and wellness. It is also all overwater: there is no beach villa category, so if you want to step off your deck onto sand this is the wrong island.

  • Cancelling between 14 and 8 days before arrival: 50% of the rate.
  • Cancelling within 7 days of arrival: 100%.
  • Late arrivals, no-shows and early departures are charged in full, without exception.
