Inside Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Vakkaru Maldives is a secluded reef island blessed with timeless ocean views, powder-soft brilliant white sands, deep blue holes and a house reef with unique marine biodiversity. The island was once a coconut plantation — home to over 2,300 fully grown coconut trees — hence the name 'Vakkaru', meaning coconut timber in the local language, Dhivehi.
