Marine Conservation

Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa features a Marine Conservation Hub, a house reef brimming with green and hawksbill turtles and shoals of marine life. In collaboration with dive partner Sub Oceanic, the resort monitors reef conditions and invites guests of all ages to participate in immersive conservation initiatives led by the resort's marine biologist.

  • Solar Power — A 569 kWp solar panel system with over 2,000 panels produces 40% of the resort's daytime power, saving approximately 750 litres of diesel per day.
  • Fresh Water via Reverse Osmosis — A cutting-edge desalination plant transforms pristine seawater into still and sparkling water, served in reusable Le Méridien-branded glass bottles.
  • Waste to Raw Material — Up to 700 kg of food waste composted daily; over 2 million litres of rainwater harvested annually; glass bottles repurposed into cement blocks.
  • Sustainable Design & Construction — Green Mark Gold Plus certified; 97% Green Globe compliance; eco-friendly materials including thatch roofing, low-VOC paints and BPA-free stainless steel.

The Greenhouse

Covering 430 m², The Greenhouse is one of the Maldives' largest hydroponic farms. Using 30% rainwater and reducing water consumption by up to 90% compared to traditional methods, the farm grows organically without insecticides and directly supplies the resort's menus. Guests can enjoy the Greenhouse Tour, Harvest Table supper club, Microgreen Planting, Cocktail Apothecary, Family Foraging and Kids Masterclass.
