Furanafushi is a full-service Marriott resort rather than a hideaway. Seven restaurants, a big lagoon, a kids club, and enough rooms that you will see other people.
What this actually costs
Every price above is two adults sharing, with daily buffet breakfast, the return speedboat, the green tax and every other tax already inside the figure. Nothing further is payable on arrival. Minimum stay is two nights.
- 1 October is the lever. Crossing into it adds between 16% and 23% to the total, depending on the villa. If your dates move by a week, move them earlier.
- Meal plans are per person per night on top of breakfast: Half Board ₹9,300, Full Board ₹14,500, All Inclusive ₹22,700, Premium All Inclusive ₹31,900. Half board is usually enough: dinner is the meal worth covering.
- Two restaurants sit outside every plan. At Baan Thai and Sea Salt you get a food-only credit of USD 45 per person, USD 60 on Premium All Inclusive, and pay the difference.
Not on the dropdown, but we will book them: five nights, which is ₹329,200 in the Island Cottage before 1 October and ₹398,700 after it; a single arrival or departure night; the 205 sqm Two Bedroom Overwater Villa with Pool; and ten nights or more, which unlocks 20% off food and drink outside the meal plan and a USD 150 spa credit.
Who this isn’t for
Anyone who wants an empty island, an adults-only property, or a house reef they can swim from their own deck. Furanafushi is close enough to Malé that the coral has taken a beating and there is no reef wall to swim out to. Fish life is better than the coral suggests, with blacktip sharks, turtles and rays routine, but the current under the water villas can make snorkelling hard work.
Anyone who needs flexibility should look elsewhere too. These bookings are non-refundable, non-cancellable and non-changeable, with no name changes and no refund for leaving early.
Before you book
- Children 11 and under stay free on existing bedding, eat free from the kids menu with parents, and travel free on the speedboat. From 12 they are charged ₹13,400 per person per night including breakfast.
- Christmas and New Year are quoted by hand. Packages stop on 23 December. From 24 December there are compulsory gala dinners, festive rates to 8 January, a four-night minimum between 28 December and 1 January, and no check-out from 29 to 31 December. Full payment falls 60 days out.
- Masala Hut, the proper Indian restaurant, closes Mondays and Fridays. Tell us about Jain, vegetarian or no-onion-garlic needs and we put them in the booking.
- Check in 15:00, check out 12:00. Land at dawn and the Relax Lounge, with showers and lockers, is free. Honeymoon extras need four nights and a certificate dated within six months.
