At InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort the entry plan already feeds you four times a day. Half board here means Club InterContinental: breakfast until 11:00, afternoon tea and cakes from 15:00, an aperitif hour from 17:00 to 19:00, and dinner at any of the restaurants on the Dine Around plan.
The island is in Raa Atoll, 45 minutes from Velana by seaplane. It has 81 villas, every one with its own pool. It suits couples and young families who like to be looked after, with seven restaurants and bars, the overwater AVI Spa, a PADI five-star dive centre and the Planet Trekkers kids' club.
What you pay
Pick your dates, villa and meal plan and the price is the whole stay for two: three nights (four on a split stay), your meals, the return seaplane with a private lounge at the seaplane terminal, and every Maldivian tax, green tax included.
The overwater villa is the cheaper one here. Three nights on half board in a Sunrise Overwater Pool Villa come to appreciably less than the Beach Pool Villa.
Skip full board and go straight to all inclusive. Full board only adds lunch. All inclusive is a modest step above full board over three nights for two, which is a fair price for three days of drinks.
The split stay is our usual answer for first-timers: two nights over the water, then two in a lagoon or beach villa, and the fourth night brings the floating breakfast. Longer stays in one villa are priced on request.
What's included, and what isn't
In the price: your villa for two with its private pool, the Club InterContinental meals above (plus lunch on full board, and drinks on all inclusive), butler service, Wi-Fi, non-motorised water sports, the return seaplane and lounge, one floating breakfast on stays of four nights or more, and every Maldivian tax including green tax. Children aged 2 to 11 stay and eat free.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, each child's seaplane and green tax, any extra adult, the spa, diving and excursions, Indian TCS, and anything not named above.
Who this isn't for
Three or four people who want to sleep over the water. Only the One Bedroom Lagoon Pool Villas and the One Bedroom Sunset Beach Pool Villa take a third guest. The Overwater Pool Villas and the Beach Pool Villa take two, children included, so a family starts on the lagoon or the beach.
Anyone landing after about 16:20. Arrive by about 15:30 and the seaplane takes you straight across. Later, a 20-minute domestic flight to Dharavandhoo and a speedboat work until about 16:20. After that, you spend a night in Malé first.
Before you book
These are India package prices, with a booking deadline and a travel window. Christmas, New Year and the following season are not priced on this page. We can still book them.
Send us your international flights at least ten days before arrival. The resort needs them to hold your seaplane seats, and late details mean a long wait in the lounge.
Three nights is the shortest stay, and a split stay needs at least two nights in each villa.
Honeymooners get a welcome amenity, a bath ritual and a decorated bed if the wedding was within the last twelve months. Send the marriage certificate with the booking.
