V Villas Maldives at Mirihi is a small island in South Ari, the atoll best known for whale sharks, with a house reef you step onto from your villa. There are 42 villas, most of them over the water, and the island has been rebuilt and relaunched under Accor’s MGallery Collection.
This is a holiday built around the water: two restaurants, a beach bar, a dive centre on the island and the resort’s own sailing boat, which spends full days looking for whale sharks. If you want a big resort with a different restaurant every night, this is not it.
What you pay
V Villas Maldives at Mirihi is priced on request. Tell us your dates and who is travelling and we will send one figure for two, with the return seaplane and every Maldivian tax inside it.
The two entry villas, the Overwater Villa and the Beach Villa, are both 53 m², so the choice between them is about waking up over the lagoon or on the sand, not about space. A private pool comes only with the Two Bedroom Overwater Villa with Private Pool, of which there are just four, and the Three Bedroom Beach Residence with Private Pool.
What’s included, and what isn’t
In the price: your villa for the nights you pick, the meal plan you choose, the return seaplane from Velana, non-motorised water sports and snorkelling on the house reef, and every Maldivian tax.
Not in the price: your international flights, travel insurance, Indian TCS, drinks outside your meal plan, diving, excursions such as the whale shark expedition, spa treatments, and anything not named above.
The resort sells bed and breakfast, half board, full board and all-inclusive. Ask us exactly what each includes to drink before you choose, because on a small island that decides the plan.
Who this isn’t for
Families with a child under eight who want to stay over the water. The overwater villas take nobody under eight. The Beach Villas and the Three Bedroom Beach Residence take children of any age.
Anyone who wants a large villa or a private pool at the entry level. At 53 m² with no pool, both entry villas are compact next to most of what we sell.
Anyone after a perfect reef. Access is superb and the marine life is good, but the coral is recovering, the overwater steps are awkward at low tide, and guests report quiet weeks as well as busy ones.
Before you book
The seaplane takes 30 to 35 minutes and flies in daylight only. Send us your flights before you buy them. Land too late for the seaplane and the resort can bring you in by domestic flight and a boat instead, and we will check both routes for your dates.
The Overwater Villa and the Beach Villa sleep two adults and one child. The two-bedroom villas sleep four adults and two children, and the Three Bedroom Beach Residence sleeps nine. Seaplanes carry far less than your international airline, so ask us for the allowance before you pack.
Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out by 12:00. A doctor is on the island around the clock.
