Sun Siyam Olhuveli is 45 minutes from Velana by speedboat, and the boats run through the night. Land at midnight and you still sleep on the island. Night crossings depend on the weather and the resort's judgement, so send us your flight times before you book.
Three connected islands, eight pools, more than twenty places to eat and drink, and up to two children under fifteen who travel, sleep and eat free. The house reef is entered from the dive centre jetty.
What this actually costs
Every price is the whole villa for two, with the return speedboat and every Maldivian tax already inside. Indian TCS is added separately on the total invoice value.
Two different things sit on the dropdown. The dates to 31 October are an India offer on full board that also brings a dolphin cruise for two adults and two children, a thali lunch for four once every three nights, a fifty dollar spa credit per adult, a floating breakfast in the pool villas, and forty per cent off the menu at eight of the restaurants.
From November the price is standard full board and those extras stop, which is why the step up is larger than the season alone explains.
On the dates to 30 September the 80 sq m Grand Beach Villa costs less than the 64 sq m Water Villa: ₹147,200 against ₹164,700 for three nights. Take the bigger room unless being over the water is the point. In October and from November that reverses.
Book sixty days ahead and the resort takes fifteen per cent off the villa rate, ten per cent at thirty days. It turns on the day you book rather than the day you travel, so it is not on the dropdown, but we apply whichever you qualify for.
Who this isn’t for
Anyone who wants a small, quiet island. This is a large resort spread over three islands with a great deal of choice on it. If you want thirty villas and silence, we sell those too.
Families with toddlers who want to be over the water. The water villas are not recommended for young children because of the layout, so take a beach category.
Anyone travelling over Christmas or New Year. Those dates are not on the dropdown, because both nights carry a compulsory gala dinner and no check-out is allowed on 30 or 31 December. We book them, we just cost them by hand.
Before you book
Tell us which island you want. Main has the arrival jetty, the dive centre and most of the restaurants. Dream is quieter, across the water, with its own restaurant. The Grand Beach Suite with Pool sits on both at the same price, so the choice is yours rather than the rate's.
Two children under fifteen stay, eat and cross free, up to the villa's occupancy. A third child or a third adult carries a supplement, and lunch on your departure day sits outside full board.
There are also two-bedroom residences, a Presidential Water Suite, a Deluxe Water Villa and a Prestige Jacuzzi Water Villa, none of them on the dropdown. The two-bedroom categories carry a heavy discount at the moment, so ask before you settle on a villa.
