Atmosphere Kanifushi is 35 minutes by seaplane from Velana, in Lhaviyani Atoll. The island runs nearly three kilometres end to end with an unbroken beach down one side, and there are 162 villas on it.
The thing to know before you book is that you cannot snorkel off the beach here. The reef edge drops away steeply and the water over it is rough. Instead the resort runs a free boat to five nearby sites, twice every day, and the guides who take it out are the most praised part of the place.
What this actually costs
Every price is four nights in the whole villa, with the return seaplane and every Maldivian tax already inside. The two-bedroom villa and the Residence are priced for four people. Indian TCS is added separately on the total invoice value.
The Kanifushi Plan is the only board here and it is a wide one. Six places to eat, premium spirits and wine, a minibar refilled daily, one fine-dining dinner per person, a 45-minute spa treatment per adult, a sunset cruise, sunset fishing and an island excursion.
Booking further ahead is cheaper than booking soon. A Sunset Beach Villa is ₹324,800 for four nights this December and ₹256,900 next April. Scan the second dropdown before you settle on a month.
Two children aged two to eleven stay and eat free in the Kanifushi Grand Pool Villa and the Residence, sharing with their parents. In the other villas a child is charged at a reduced rate. Tell us the ages and we will cost both.
Who this isn’t for
Anyone whose picture of the Maldives is stepping off a deck onto live coral. That does not happen here. You will see plenty over a week of boat trips, but you will be on a boat to do it.
Anyone landing at Velana after 15:45. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so a later arrival means a night in Male at your own cost. Going home, an international flight leaving before 08:45 means travelling back the previous afternoon.
Anyone on a three-night trip. Four nights is the minimum these prices are built on, and it is also the gate on the spa treatment, the fine-dining dinner, the honeymoon extras and the excursions. Three nights costs more per night and gets less.
A third adult sharing. The supplement is high enough to change the answer, and the two-bedroom villa is often cheaper.
Before you book
These prices close on 15 October. That is the booking deadline, not the travel deadline: book by then and you can travel until 23 December 2027 at the figures on this page.
Christmas and New Year carry no compulsory gala dinner here, which is worth knowing if you have been quoted one elsewhere. Those dates cancel at 45 days rather than 14, and no offer applies to them.
Late March has no offer either, so 20 to 31 March costs more than the weeks on both sides of it. If your dates move by a week, move them.
The pool villas and the Residence add sparkling wine on arrival, spirits and wine in the villa, and an optional a la carte breakfast away from the buffet. The Residence adds a butler and a buggy.
