STDC plans to promote travel to Sikkim in Karnataka

In a bid to make Sikkim one of the most attractive tourist destinations in India, a team from Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation or STDC, initiated certain interstate tourism promotional activities during their recent visit to Karnataka in South India. The team, led by its Chairman Narendra Kr Subba, said that the move was initiated in keeping with the vision of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, who wanted to make Sikkim attractive to people all over the country.

STDC also tied up with some of the other tourism departments while they were in South India. They joined hands with international travel agencies like Thomas Cook and other national and state co-operations like Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation and Gujarat Tourism Development Corporation.

The team also identified a house in Bangalore city that they plan to take in lease after the government approves of it, in order to convert it to Sikkim House, Karnataka. The STDC delegates also had talks with Jungle Lodges & Resorts Ltd. and Karnataka Tourism Development Corporation. Delegates from both the states hope that the move brings positive results for both parties concerned.

The Chairman of STDC hopes that Bangalore can become a South-Indian hub for the Sikkimese.
