Full fledged Film City in the pipeline at Gangtok

Sikkim has every reason to cheer! No! This time not for its real scenic beauty but ‘Reel’ related proposal. As a plan to cash in from the magic of cinema, a full-fledged film city is all set to come up in Gangtok. For the film enthusiasts, this news is surely going to take their excitement to a new high.

To tap the potential of its landscape, idyllic location and scenic spots for film shooting and other entertainment programs, Sikkim government has decided to set up a film city in Gangtok.

Rural Management and Development Department (RMDD) Minister, C B Karki asserted that to attract its worldwide tourists, in infinite leisure and volley of entertainment this full-fledged film city is surely going to be a blessing in disguise.   .

Karki while delivering a speech at a function, confirmed that a suitable plot of land was being scouted for the purpose of setting up the film city in Gangtok. He also declared that the proposed film city would not only provide infrastructure support for film shooting and other film production related works, but promote employment opportunities for local people as well.

The RMDD minister also asked local people to welcome the entertainment industry and to take initiative of producing films and programs for viewers in the state and outside. He also assured that the state government would provide all necessary support in their progressive approach.
