In yet another laudable move, the Indian Army has recently launched an afforestation drive in the high altitudes of East Sikkim. They planted 6000 saplings, consisting of various species including maple juniper, chinguapin, fir, rhododendron, purple Iris, Strawberry, Jatamansi and Fenugreek. The Tiger Reserve at Namdapha in Arunachal Pradesh would be watched over by an aircraft. It has been planned that a micro light aircraft would be put on duty to continuously hover over the Namdapha tiger Reserve. State Government of Tripura Joins Hands with Local Groups to Protect Its Forests

The State Government of Tripura has incorporated 472 Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMC) with local groups of Agartala to protect, conserve and develop the deteriorated forest areas.
